Crema's Take
“This Schenectady nonprofit café doubles as a cat rescue operation, letting you linger over carefully crafted coffee and pastries while spending time with adoptable cats in a genuinely welcoming space. The owner's passion for both the animals and hospitality shines through in the warm, attentive staff who make first-time visitors feel like regulars, creating that rare coffee shop atmosphere where you can settle in with your laptop for hours and actually feel like part of something meaningful.”

What a wonderful non-profit providing such an important service to our community. I believe it might have been the owner/manager who checked us in, explained how things worked and directed us to the kitty lounge. She was happy to answer all our questions and it is obvious she loves what she does. My friend fell in love with one of the kitties available for adoption and has an application pending. We are hopeful to get a yes for adoption in a few days. What a great way to start a beautiful late winter Sunday.
Lots of local vendors to shop from. The owner does her best to care for these animals and pair them with new homes. As someone who has volunteered with a few rescue organizations in the past, this option is preferable over them being in a cage. When it’s busy, the main area itself can be small as everyone is playing with the cats. Be wary what times you go. No public restroom. Some of the volunteers can be standoffish and rude.
I adore this place!! We visited for the first time today and loved it. The staff are so friendly, welcoming, and funny too! You can tell how much they love what they do and you can tell how loved these cats are. The kitties themselves were so sweet and adorable, I loved spending them with them! It is so exciting to see so many of them in the process of being adopted, I can’t wait to do the same. Plus, the bakery items are so yummy! ☺️
Good experience at the cafe! However… Our experience with The Pretty Paw Lounge was extremely disappointing when it comes to fostering cats. The owner, Rachel, was very unprofessional from the start. She failed to fully explain the important conditions and responsibilities involved with the cat we were fostering “Too Busy That Day”… Which caused unnecessary confusion and stress to us and the cat. On top of that, communication was terrible — when we had urgent questions about the fostered cat’s health and care. When we did manage to reach her, her attitude was dismissive and rude, especially when we reached out outside of office hours and need urgent advice for the cat (because the cat was puking and have various stomach issues). For an organization that’s supposed to care about animals and their well-being, this kind of unprofessional and unhelpful behavior is unacceptable. Would not recommend fostering through them.
So the perks to this place are being able to spend time with the cats. 4 of us went, and we decided to try some of the baked goods and drinks... unsure if the lady that was behind the counter was the owner, but my fiancé bought his coffee first and it was almost like she forgot about him, we kept making comments indicating he did not receive his coffee and it was like it didn't click to her. We were the only ones in the cafe at the time, so it wasn't like she was overwhelmed with customers. After we all got our stuff (as we paid for it)...he had to approach her for his coffee....she never gave me my change back from my purchase which did irritate me but I hope it just goes to the kitties and the hot chocolate was not good at all. Due to my fb post, many of my friends are visiting this location, so I know I helped to get the word out to help the kitties that are staying there. The room for the kitties is separate, and you can pay per 1/2 hour $15. The room did have a smell to it, but you get used to it. The setup is ideal for all the cats and spacious. Every kitty there is available for adoption. Some are bonded as well. All in all, it was a great experience playing with the cats and interacting with them. I do not, however, recommend eating there.... But certainly pay a visit and maybe consider adopting.
