Donut Inn

Crema's Take
“Donut Inn is a family-friendly spot in Wilmington where the real star is an impressive rotating selection of fresh donuts—think sour cream, Boston cream, red velvet, and maple bacon—that keep locals coming back despite inconsistent coffee quality. The staff's genuine warmth (they're known for surprising first-timers with free donuts to take home) creates a welcoming vibe, though be prepared that prices can feel steep and the espresso drinks don't always deliver the flavor punch you'd hope for.”

I read some recent reviews and hoped they were just some bad days. Unfortunately, there is merit to those reviews. Went there around 730am. Staff immediately asked me what they could get me, my kids needed a little time, so we had other people go around us. They were very attentive to each customer but you could tell they weren't thrilled to be there. I get it's early and working in food service can be difficult but a little more positive energy would go a long way. As far as food quality, it has completely dropped off when compared to a few months ago. Take a look at previous pictures to see how the donuts were and how they are now. As far as the chocolate frosted anything, it's like they took vanilla frosting and sprinkled in some cocoa powder to try to make the frosting. Taste wise, it tastes like vanilla frosting. Typically chocolate frosting is made from a semisweet chocolate chip or bar base. The sprinkles they used are from around Christmas, see the little Christmas tree sprinkles for reference. Half the amount of frosting was used to cover the donuts compared to before. The dough used for the donut is not as good as it was. The Boston creme donut also had significantly less filling than it used to. Were the donuts edible? Yes. Craveable? No. Memorable? In a bad way. I'll be looking for a new place to get my donut fix.
Best variety of fresh doughnuts. Sour cream option is amazing but so is the Boston cream and the red velvet and of course maple bacon is a good choice. Can't go wrong!
My girlfriend and I stopped here the other day, the food was very mid for the price, and the latte we had barely had any flavor. The total was 42 bucks for 2 standard breakfast sandwiches (cheese wasn't melted), a bagel with cream cheese, a donut, and 2 regular size coffees. The donuts were good though!
This place is AMAZING! The donut selection is out of this world and the workers see si friendly, I was given a free donut bc it was my first time and she gave me one to take home to my husband too, how sweet! The chef in the kitchen came up to say hi too, I so appreciated that, so nice! And the woman came over to me to assist me as she saw me looking at the donuts which was so sweet and intuitive too! I ordered the glazed croissant omg 🥐 delicious! And a bagel with egg and cheese omg the bagels are so good wow and im a new yorker and these are great bagels 🥯!😍Awesome prices great place all around and I can’t wait to come back
Awesome donuts. Coffee is very good too, but we go for donuts. Life is about the quality of the donuts you eat - not the coffee you drink. That said, the selection of donuts are great. Nothing too crazy like some places offer, so I imagine they sell out of all donuts each day. I like the Long John the best - it’s like a chocolate frosted and filled eclair, but slightly different. GET ONE! Again…donuts first, then coffee. That’s a mantra we cannot mess with. I highly recommend checking out The Donut Inn - but not on a Monday…as they’re closed that day.
