Crema's Take

Jo's Coffee Downtown is an espresso-focused spot in the heart of Austin where the coffee clearly shines brighter than the food, so come for their well-crafted lattes and specialty drinks rather than expecting restaurant-quality breakfast. The vibe is genuinely welcoming with good seating and friendly service that makes it perfect for lingering over a cup or catching up with friends, even if the kitchen's execution is a bit inconsistent. It's the kind of place where you'll find locals settling in for a slow morning, trading ambition for a really good espresso-based drink and some people-watching.

What to expect

Espresso-focused. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast and light food on the menu.

Got the grilled cheese and “cup” of soup which is more appropriately called 4 tablespoons of soup. It isn’t even enough to cover dunking the sandwich in - it was literally 4 bites of soup. Major disappointment. Won’t be going back there for lunch, ever.

First time visit and found it to be a good experience. I was on the hunt for an expresso based coffee and ended up having breakfast too. The bacon taco wasn't bursting with flavour but tasted good all the same. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. Couldn't ask for anything else.
