Esselon Café
99 Russell St, Hadley, MA
Crema's Take
“Esselon Café is a beloved Hadley brunch destination where excellent waffles, pancakes, and their standout smoked salmon benedict share the spotlight with thoughtfully pulled espresso and pour overs in a genuinely beautiful, well-designed space. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and generous outdoor seating make it ideal for lingering over coffee or catching up with friends, though arrive early or expect a pleasantly crowded scene during peak hours. With a solid breakfast and light food program that keeps locals coming back, this is the kind of place where the care in both the coffee and the kitchen shines through.”

The waffles and pancakes were really good. I really don’t like runny eggs. When you walk in you stand on the line and then you order. Then you have to look for a seat. The place was packed. If you sit outside, it was really cold. The food came out pretty quick. The girl at the counter was really nice.
We had brunch at Esselon Café, and it’s easy to see why it’s such a local favorite. The place has a warm, welcoming vibe and a great outdoor seating area that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made, and the service was attentive without feeling rushed. A wonderful spot for brunch and definitely worth a visit.
I love this place! I have almost tried all their options for breakfast but I think smoked salmon benedict is the best you can go for!
While the staff was pleasant, the gluten-free options were unremarkable, and portion sizes were perceived as small. Although some specials were satisfactory, a return visit is not anticipated.
Absolutely wonderful experience here earlier this week! The space is genuinely beautiful and well-thought out. There was plenty of seating, and even though it was the middle of the lunch hour, it didn't feel cramped. Staff was pleasant and friendly when taking my order. And the food was delicious! Very much worth the price. I ordered the gourmet cheeseburger. It was larger sized and cooked perfectly; very juicy but still well-done. The French fries were definitely homemade and had a good amount of seasoning. This is a perfect spot if you are looking for a non-chain breakfast or lunch option in the area. Definitely recommend.
