Huntington Library Coffee Shop
1151 Oxford Rd, San Marino, CA
Crema's Take
“Nestled within the Huntington Library grounds, this café offers a refreshing escape where you can fuel up with thoughtfully crafted bowls and sandwiches before (or after) wandering through world-class gardens and art collections. The patio dining experience is genuinely special—sipping coffee surrounded by blooming flowers and manicured landscapes transforms a simple meal into something memorable, and the menu delivers solid hits like their poke bowl and creative vegetarian options without pretension or inflated pricing.”

I love their spicy turkey burger! My husband enjoyed the vegetarian options, tofu shawarma and bowl. We’re looking forward to our next visit to see what’s blooming in March.
I really like the expansive menu here. Lots of options that weren’t overwhelming to choose from. The salads are fantastic. My poke bowl was delicious and the perfect meal for a full day of walking. The generous amount of food is well worth the price.
Came during the week, no waiting upon arrival. Order the chicken tacos and it was just ok, nothing great. My daughter had the ham & cheese sandwich with fries and that was also just ok. I think the already made Sushi in the plastic containers towards the register counters would’ve been the best option or choice. This place is like a Cafeteria, you grab a serving tray and grab your items and pay at the end, and you also can seat wherever you like. After your meal you must return your serving tray with dishes to the specified location. This place is a grab and go. Seating outside was actually nice.
I had lunch on a Sunday afternoon with friends and we each bought food from different places. My favorite is the Poke Bowl, but my friend ordered the Taco Bowl and she said it was delicious. The portions were a lot, neither of us finished our food. The Poke Bowl was a little over $20 and definitely worth it for the quality. Sunday was a very hot day so we didn’t struggle to find a table which can be difficult on more crowded days. We tried the desserts but I wasn’t a fan of either of the ones we ordered: apple crumble and a mango moose pastry puff. I plan to return many times in the future, the ambiance is wonderful and nothing beats a stroll through the garden after a good meal.
The food at 1919 Café was fantastic and surprisingly affordable compared to similar dining experiences near LA. I loved dining on the patio with a beautiful view of the gardens it really added to the experience. The carrot cake was moist and delicious, and my tacos were packed with flavor. A perfect spot for a great meal in a stunning setting!
