Crema's Take

This Newark spot trades cutting-edge coffee culture for something more old-school: a leisurely neighborhood gathering place where traditional Portuguese and Latin American drinks anchor a slow-paced experience. The cappuccinos and fresh-squeezed orange juice draw regulars who linger over chorizo and Cuban sandwiches, though consistency issues with food quality and baked goods suggest calling ahead on special occasions. It's genuinely welcoming if you're after unhurried conversation and classic flavors rather than precision espresso work.

We ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese, it took them 25 min to make it (we were the only customers there at 9am) and on top of that the bread was stale. We also got a custard cone and the custard was a stretchy jelly consistency. I’ve never had custard do something like that. The pastry was stale as well. The server was slow, quiet, and seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing. Don’t eat here.

I had brought a cake for my grandfather's 91st birthday and was the WORST purchase as the cake did not test well and noticed that it has MOLD!!!! Please do NOT purchase your cake here! I just hope my family does not get sick as we noticed when eating the cake.

We ordered a cake from this place exactly 3 years ago for my son’s birthday. We paid the full amount when ordering. So they called us saying it was ready but the lady made it sound like we owed money. When my husband when to get the cake. The lady told him he had to pay more money because the cake was bigger than what we actually ordered, that’s why she was insisting so much. She wanted us to pay the difference, of course we didn’t. She said she had to pay the difference with her own money...Not our fault!!! I like their coffee and sandwiches but after that experience, never again.

Welcoming and friendly service. The Chorizo sandwich, Cuban Sandwich and pernil are delicious, great portions. We enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice and the cappuchinos. Yet to try their patries. We will be back:)
