Crema's Take

Sweet Jean's Kitchen and Espresso Bar in downtown Newark is a welcoming neighborhood gem where Victor and the team clearly pour genuine care into both their craft beverages and kitchen creations, from their crave-worthy paninis like the buffalo pajeanie to creative cold brew experiments. The baristas here go beyond the menu to accommodate your wildest coffee ideas, and the full breakfast and sandwich lineup—especially standouts like the Cheese Louise with crispy bacon and sturdy sourdough—make it as much a destination for food as it is for your daily specialty drink. It's the kind of place where regulars keep coming back because the consistency, hospitality, and attention to quality never waver.

The paninis are unbelievably good!!! Crave them constantly (especially the buffalo pajeanie). And the service is 5 stars. They clearly care about the food quality and customer satisfaction. Was hooked the moment I stepped foot in there and saw a Wes Anderson-themed drink menu. I always call ahead for my lunch order and it’s never late. Simply the best.

stopped by this coffee shop today and had such a great experience! I asked about a pistachio cold foam cold brew—even though it wasn’t on the menu—and the barista went out of his way to make it happen. Not only was he super friendly and patient, but he really took the time to get it just right. The drink turned out amazing—smooth, nutty, and perfectly balanced. I will be coming back for sure!!!

Great new coffee shop in downtown Newark that also has delicious food! I ordered the Cheese Louise sandwich— thick cut crispy bacon, fresh tomato, and sturdy sourdough bread come together in a balanced, satisfying bite. What sets it apart is the layer of cheese crisped on top of the bread, adding a savory crunch that really elevates the whole thing. It’s hearty without feeling too heavy, and clearly made with care.

this is a cute cafe. my friend and i both tried the tuna, toasted and untoasted, and we both felt the same way. it was not good. however the coconut cold brew was very good and i would come back here even if it’s just to try that drink again. perhaps a different sandwich though. edit: i went back and had the turkey + brie, my friend had the italian sangweech. both were quite good. the strawberry matcha was also amazing.
