Crema's Take

Diesel is a sprawling Somerville spot that feels like an adventurous friend's living room, with plenty of room to spread out over espresso drinks and pastries—complete with unexpected gems like a vintage photo booth and pool table that make it as much destination as caffeine stop. The vintage-meets-industrial aesthetic and generous seating draw everyone from remote workers to couples, and while the espresso drinks are solid (though their sweet drinks lean syrupy), the real draw is the permission to stay as long as you want in a genuinely relaxed, welcoming space.

My partner and I enjoyed our visit to Diesel while spending some days away in Boston. We found the cafe on Tiktok and were very intrigued by the vintage photo booth! We had a great experience. Although it was very busy, all of the staff were attentive and did not make us feel rushed in any way. We got the Viatnamese iced coffee and Iced Caramel Latte and both were great! Some things to note are you must order tokens for the photo booth at the register, we did not know this and had to stand in line twice. Also there is no ketchup! Overall, a fun lively cafe. We’ll definitely return for the photobooth.

A cozy café with a beautiful, stylish interior that makes it a perfect place to relax. There’s a wide selection of desserts to choose from, and the coffee is delicious. Definitely a great spot to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

The matcha latte with soy milk was decent. Creamy and although pre-sweetened, not too sweet. The peppermint mocha latte was a little too sweet. Lots of space to do work with free wifi and even a vintage photobooth and pool table. It does get quite crowded during lunch hours though and the photobooth doesn't work sometimes.

Diesel Cafe is a decently sized cafe with multiple different amenities inside of it, such as a pool table and a photobooth for use within it. We came on a snowy day, and it was still decently packed and busy. The place was a bit uncleanly though, which may be because of how many people were going in and out. The bathrooms were uncleanly, even though there is a password lock on the door. We tried a cardamom bun, which had a slight taste of lemon and was alright, I think that was just my preference though. The drinks looked good though, but I didn't try it. It is a nice place, but I think I'd go back only on a less busy day.

This cafe is like your REI crowd meets industrial decor. Super chill and laidback cafe with plenty of seating and is much larger on the inside than you can imagine. Great place to do some work or just hangout over their awesome pastries and coffee!
