Muddy Creek Cafe & Listening Room
626 S Main St, Winston-Salem, NC
Crema's Take
“Muddy Creek Café doubles as both a casual lunch spot and an intimate music venue right in the heart of Old Salem, offering satisfying sandwiches like their chicken salad croissant alongside a curated listening room experience. While their food execution can be inconsistent, the real draw is catching live performances in a cozy, up-close setting that rewards you for taking a chance on a small local space. It's the kind of place where you're just as likely to linger over coffee between Old Salem explorations as you are to return specifically for a Joe Pug show.”
What to expect
Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, quick-grab spot, good for meetings. Light food on the menu. Open late.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars. But I just don't get it. The food is airplane quality. Portion size were very poor for price. I guess if people who are doing the tour don't wanna drive into town they settle? And the vibe doesn't match the historical area. Just odd
Talk about stumbling onto a gem! Santa gave my wife and me tickets to a concert (the Lubben Brothers) here in the Listening Room, and we could not have had a better experience. The kitchen was open before the afternoon show, and our sandwiches (roadt beef panini and TLBT) were…
I don't like to beat up too much on small businesses but, given the lack of places to eat in Old Salem, be advised. Both of us ordered the Moravian Chicken Pie, a side salad, one hot apple cider and two bottles of water. Just under $50.00. If only the pies were delicious. …
I stopped in to try the chicken pie which was ok but I asked the cashier if the potato salad had onions and she said no. First bite was a big crunchy onion, which is the equivalent of superman swallowing a piece of kryptonite.... Anyway, didn't get to try any sides.
We stopped at Muddy Creek while visiting Old Salem and we weren’t disappointed! They have several quick and delicious sandwiches and sides you can choose from. Our favorite was the chicken salad croissant and the Mac and cheese!
Attended the Joe Pug show last Sunday. It was a great show in a very intimate setting. I would definitely go back for another show though. The venue could use a little more ambiance and the seats were not super comfortable.
