Stickiest krispy treat this side of the bakery. Been meaning to try a new bakery for some time now, and a half day at work gave me the chance to visit Sweet Mimi's, which usually closes well before I have a chance to drop in. Parking was a little tough, even with the free parking lots nearby, but eventually I found something and headed on over. Inside was hella busy, jam packed and the staff was looking a bit exhausted. However, they were still friendly. Took a few minutes but I got someone to help me, picking out my treats, a blueberry muffin, a rice crispy treat, a lemon and blueberry loaf slice, and a maple peach bar. Coming to around $16. Took a bit to get the rice crispy treat out, apparently it was stuck to the plate and would not budge until she got a spatula. That's fine though, I knew the sticker it was the fresher should be. Back home I only partook of one of the treats, saving the rest for the weekend, but I of course went with the krispy treat first. Firstly, it was in fact the stickiest thing I have touched in years, It stuck to the box, it stuck to the wax paper, it stuck to my hands, and I think I know why. It had too much marshmallow. They should have used, probably 25% less marshmallow, because the thing not only was sticky but was super soft and overly sweet. The topping of mint frosting didn't help much either. I suggest they cut back on the marshmallow, and replace the mint frosting dollop with a small dip in mint enhanced white chocolate, just enough to coat a single side of the treat. Then with a little artistic talent, use a toothpick or similar to paint a shamrock on the white chocolate using green food dye or a matcha powder mix. Overall, my first treat was not living up to my hype, but I hope the remainder of the treats make waves. Service was good despite the busy hour, and the price was very manageable.
I wish I could give more stars to Mimi’s Cafe and Bakery. I usually been ask for visiting cafes and restaurants and post my opinion and of course I would love it but this is the first time I write with a real desire for a cafe which was totally different. I strongly suggest you to try Mushroom omelette which is buttery and delicious, serves with ray bread l. I don’t like sweet deserts but the banana bread was so unique and delicious. I don’t keep counting calories in that. Also Dard chocolate and peanut butter kiss cookies are the best and don’t forget to grab some for later. Definitely we will return in our next visit.
Crazy good food! A beautiful restaurant. Really cozy atmosphere. Despite being slammed and the holiday week, service was excellent. I would have loved to have tried some pastries, but seriously, they give you a healthy serving!
I went to Sweet Mimi's yesterday after hearing some good reviews online. It was small business Saturday so I was prepared to not get seated immediately, even as a party of 1. They told me it could be a 50 minute wait, it was less than that (about 35-40 minutes) because I put my name in around 1 and they close at 2. Going in, there is not a lot of space but they have made the most of it with the placement of their tables. The staff was amazing at keeping the place moving like a well oiled machine, I could see how tired they were and they just kept going and were super sweet. The food, ooh the food was AMAZING! I came in for the exact two items I have pictured, the Autumn Scramble Special and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. The autumn hash has such a great mixture of veggies in there with the Brussel sprouts, butternut squash, and onions. The shaved Parmesan cheese, bacon, and balsamic bring it all together. For reference, I got mine with egg whites. The pancakes were so fluffy! The lemon and blueberry pairing is a classic combo and it worked here. While I would have liked just a hint more lemon flavor, the blueberry compote certainly made up for it. No maple syrup needed! And of course as you leave you pass by their lovely baked goods selection. So I went home with a cherry scone and their chocolate chip walnut brownie. Overall I'm glad I waited for the table because this was the perfect meal after a day shopping in toga.
One of the most elegant experiences I have had. The staff was beyond amazing and attentive even at peak hours. The food was not only heavenly but esthetically pleasing. The atmosphere warm and welcome. Many companies come together to make a very special dining experience as well. The baked goods to the coffees and back to the amazing sandwiches were all a treat. 10 out of 10 recommend highly when in the Saratoga Springs area.
