Bāng Bar
10 Columbus Cir, New York, NY
Crema's Take
“Bāng Bar is a standing-room-only spot that's earned genuine love for its bold, flavorful Asian bowls—particularly the spicy eggplant rice bowl and chicken teriyaki, which reviewers describe as packed with aromatic depth and complemented by surprisingly excellent waffle fries. While the no-seating setup and inconsistent execution divide opinions, the friendly service and late-opening hours make it a solid grab-and-go destination for those craving vibrant, generously spiced comfort food in New York.”

I had the chicken teriyaki salad and I added spicy eggplant for an additional four dollars and I’ll tell you what the spicy eggplant was phenomenal, the second best eggplant I have ever had, but overall the salad was fantastic. It was on a bed of julienned cabbage and lettuce that held up to the sauce and all of the toppings really well. The chicken was plentiful. There was a lot of of it and everything had great flavor, the cucumbers, the marinated onions. I really enjoyed the salad as far as the service. The cashier was kind of grumpy, but the guy preparing the food was super nice. He even added some additional green goddess dressing to my salad when I needed some more because I like a lot of dressing. Located up on the third floor of the Columbus Circle shopping mall tucked in the back kind of by the restrooms. Not really a lot of places to eat you’ve gotta stand and eat or you gotta go down to Whole Foods and eat at their tables. Good place to get togo food. The salad felt really healthy and a lot of veg but also decadent and filling, exactly what I was looking for.
I don’t ever leave reviews but I haddd to this time. The food was terrible and flavorless. I got the teriyaki chicken bowl. There’s barely any teriyaki sauce. They drench the food in this weird white sauce. Absolutely gross. I don’t think we’ll even finish our food.
Food was Great ! Flavorful and aromatic. I had the Spicy Eggplant Rice Bowl without the spice. It was amazing! Nowhere to sit, but Service was the Best! Waffle fries were better than Chick Fil A!
Had their chicken teriyaki salad and it was delicious. Packed with flavor. There is no seating so get it to go or stand and eat outside.
Thoroughly disappointing. I ordered the Fold Up with spicy pork ($11) and Waffle Fries ($6.50). Brenda took my order asking me how spicy I liked my food? I can eat spicy being from India. I went to the table where I stood to eat. Unpacking the fold up found two buns with thick strips of pork that looked pink and unappetizing. A first bite confirmed it. I managed to eat it while taking the out most of the meat. The fries were fine but I didn’t pay $19 and change to eat fried potatoes. I hate to waste money and this was a complete waste. Then another customer came to the table with a chicken fold up and said that t tasted dismal. How can the Momofuku Group produce this lackluster cuisine when next door the dishes are superb? Perplexing.
