Local Grind Coffee + Cafe
5933 E Spring St, Long Beach, CA
Crema's Take
“Local Grind has built itself into a genuine neighborhood anchor in Long Beach where regulars keep coming back for the reliably solid coffee and welcoming vibe—the kind of place where baristas know what they're doing and the atmosphere actually feels worth lingering in. Beyond the dependable espresso drinks, they're experimenting with creative signatures like their Mexican Horchata Latte and showing real care with their bagel sandwiches, though the kitchen can be inconsistent on items like croissants and timing during busy stretches. It's the type of casual, family-friendly spot that works equally well for a quick coffee run or settling in with your laptop for hours, backed by years of loyal customers who clearly appreciate the people behind the counter.”

This is my top spot, the people and atmosphere are excellent. Coffee is always on point and they have good food too. I’ve been coming for years and I’ve only had an order messed up once. Bravo guys.
Their bagels are good and coffee, but don’t waste your money on the ham and cheese croissant sandwich. Plus the wait to get our food was 30 minutes. It was advertised as a build your own sandwich and you could add things, so I added avocado. It was greasy and mushy, so l I tried to eat it with a fork and knife. It was just barely edible. No refund or accommodation could be given. Stick with a bagel and cream cheese if you go there. Much safer option.
The Local Grind is a Regular Spot. 👍 PROS: When you find your drink of choice, you feel content and satisfied. There is a decent menu selection for both beverages and foods, and I stumbled upon my go-to drink on the second visit, trying out different things. I order the same thing every time now, and very much enjoy it as a morning treat. Consistently delicious, between a number of baristas. I appreciate the little shopping items inside made by local folks/businesses, and the vibe of it clearly being a popular place for regulars. After a few visits, one of the baristas noticed I was a new regular in the mix and I've counted that at least three seem to know my order now. It's little things, so it lives up its name as the Local Grind or spot to be in the neighborhood. CONS: I have not found worthy cons or reasons to not revisit this place, because it's a good business that operates well. There can be limited space inside (only when it's really busy) and this is balanced with outdoor seating. The food is not made in house from scratch like a bakery, but they support suppliers with good products. All in all, recommended for a classic morning treat. ☕
I came by since I wanted coffee and something to eat. I got an iced chai latte and a turkey sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place. They have a variety of drinks and food.
I had a Mexican Horchata Latte and a "Local's Only" everything bagel sandwich. The latte did not have too strong of a coffee flavor, which I enjoyed. I didn't really taste the horchata in the latte, but it's probably why the coffee taste wasn't too strong. The bagel of the sandwich was toasted well and had a nice flavor. The local's only bagel sandwich has eggs, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. It's a nice creamy and warm combo. There was only one thing wrong, which was how the sandwhich fillings were falling out, but that's not their fault. The staff were very nice and patient with me since I had never been there before. I was asking about the types of bagel options and what can be done with them.
