Crema's Take
“Homestead Kitchen & Bakery is a beloved local anchor where the real magic happens in the pastry case and at the breakfast table—their apple cider donuts and buttery croissants are worth the drive alone, and the generous portions of thoughtfully made food pair beautifully with quality coffee. The vibe is genuinely warm and unhurried, with staff who actually know their craft, making it the kind of place where families linger, friends meet up, and celebrations happen naturally around a good meal.”

Perfect breakfast spot! Tried this place for the first time today. Drove from Lawrence. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was really great portion sizes and delicious. The coffee tastes perfect black with no creamer or sugar which is a sign of great coffee. I had a day old donut and honestly it tasted so good, I'll have to come back again to try a fresh one! Prices ate fair for the sides of the food you get. Also it has a super cute atmosphere and plenty of seating. I will definitely be back! Worth the 25 min drive.
We visited the Lenexa Public market on a warm sunny November afternoon for lunch. I got the chicken salad sandwich from homestead kitchen with fries. Everything was great and we also grabbed a happy hour beer and sat on the patio and enjoyed the fire pits.
This place is Baldwin City's hometown treasure. The food and baked goods are delicious and the staff can't be beat. Lori and her crew helped my husband pull off a surprise birthday party for me tonight in their new event space. It was PERFECT! The venue is cozy, yet easily accommodated 50 people. The food was DELICIOUS! The staff, Seven and Charity, were WONDERFUL!
Friendly staff, clean, super cute place and delicious baked goods. The apple cider donut was soooo good and so were the mini cinnamon rolls. A must try!
Good buttery croissant chicken salad with hint of spice. Home fried potato chips were a little overdone but tasty. $10 for the set. Pricey but yum & good practical portions. Nice atmosphere but the paint could use a little TLC & the tables could be cleaner. Nice selection of ice cream & baked goods. I like that I could walk through the boutique next door without going outside. The featured artist should charge more for her paintings. What a lovely way to get nice art into peoples homes, but far below their worth for her time & talent. $4 for a pecan roll seems outrageous but the orange roll was $1.50 something and it was delicious.
