Crema's Take

Tucked into the sprawling lobby of The Mining Exchange Hotel, this coffee shop trades the intimate café vibe for wide-open space and plenty of seating, making it ideal for lingering over conversation or a full breakfast spread. The baristas craft creative drinks like pistachio ube oatmilk lattes and matcha offerings, though consistency seems to be a work-in-progress—so go in with flexible expectations and a willingness to speak up if something's off.

Interesting concept; the hotel has a huge lobby, so they leased out part of it to a coffee shop. Lots of room, but the vibe is totally “hotel lobby” and not coffee shop. Sofas, coffee tables, etc. nice and clean, lots of room and large tables. A few tables if you’re one of those people who work on laptops. Not for those who like smaller, more intimate coffee shops. My only negative is the coffee. I asked if they had a light roast, but the barista said they only have a medium roast, so I ordered a cappuccino, but it wasn’t very good. Very french roast taste, and bitter, like $tarbux. I hope they find better coffee, less dark roasted, at least for those of us who don’t like drinking charcoal. I also didn’t like being served a hot coffee in a glass? Don’t they have coffee mugs? I put food at 3/5 stars, as the croissant was basic, the coffee bitter. Atmosphere 3/5 because of what I wrote above. When I was there it was a bit noisy, lots of people Bathrooms are lobby bathrooms, a bit of a walk but large, clean and spacious. They have a small table with coffee things (sugar, napkins, water and cups).

The space is beautiful and the staff is friendly. My only issue was my drink. I ordered a matcha and it was basically all milk (image attached). I asked the barista to add more matcha and even after that, it was still very milky. Felt like a waste of $8.

We got the breakfast sandwich, and americano, and a cappuccino from the menu. The cappuccino didn't have any foam at all, and almost looked like it wasn't even steamed. You couldn't taste the lavender or white chocolate in the drink either, but it did taste kind of sour and burnt. Maybe it's not supposed to be a traditional cappuccino, but for $50 it was a disappointment.

I stayed at The Mining Exchange Hotel over the weekend and decided to grab a quick breakfast before I went out hiking. The staff was very friendly and the interior of the hotel makes for a very pleasant dining experience. I ordered the “Breakfast Sandwich” and it was very filling and delicious. The egg was fluffy and the bacon was crispy. What really caught me off guard was the kale, which sounded odd at first, but fit perfectly!

My sister and I enjoyed the pistachio ube oatmilk lattes. They were delicious! Also love the hotel lobby atmosphere, lots of seating! They also had a happy hour special you cannot beat!
