Bookbug & this is a bookstore
3019 Oakland Dr, Kalamazoo, MI
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Kalamazoo's indie bookstore scene, this place seamlessly weaves together the quiet joy of browsing shelves with the comfort of a neighborhood café, where Factory Coffee pulls thoughtful espresso drinks while you sink into a book or work alongside other regulars. The warmth starts the moment you walk in—staff greet you like regulars even on first visits, and the space feels intentionally designed for lingering, whether you're hunting for your next read, working on a laptop, or sharing a table with friends over pastries and coffee. It's that rare spot where book lovers, laptop workers, and families all find their place, making it feel less like a transaction and more like coming home.”

This is one of my absolute favorite places in Kalamazoo. It might actually be my favorite. The atmosphere is welcoming to all, with warm greetings as you walk through the door. Its fun to browse, well organized even with a massive inventory, and if they don't have a book you want, they'll order it for you. I also love the fact that there is a cafe inside so you can walk around with either a coffee mug or a wine glass (filled with Michigan wine) to enhance the visit even more.
One of my favorite spots in Kalamazoo. Great place for a coffee and cafe style snack. Amazing selection of books, puzzles and games. Really important to support our indie booksellers and this one is a must visit.
These are Fantastic Bookstores... definitely hidden gems for any booklover living in or visiting Kalamazoo! Make sure to check them out :) P.S. - Ask about their reward program if you'll be a frequent shopper. They also pick a local charity to help every month. Super Cool!
Loved this atmosphere! There's a kids store then next door a cafe and regular books. They had all the extras, journals, writing prompt cards, michigan theme items, a bookish lovers dream.
