Crema's Take

This Carmichael pie bakery has earned devoted fans with its remarkably flaky, buttery crusts that stand out even among serious pie enthusiasts, and the owner's genuine passion shines through both in the product and in their hands-on pie-making classes for small groups. Beyond the pastry counter, it's a welcoming spot to linger over coffee and a slice, with a personality that keeps people coming back year after year for birthdays and special occasions.

Stopped in for lunch at Mesa Mercado and saw the pies. Have wanted to try. We ordered vanilla hand pies. My expectations were not high TBH. But they were far surpassed! The crust was buttery, flaky and tender--melted in my mouth. The vanilla filling was absolutely scrumptious. I am honestly not even big on pie, but I am definitely hitting this place up again 1000%. Their other items looked gorgeous too, but I am a custard person (nobody makes good custard anymore); however for this place I would venture into berry, lemon or chocolate items if there is no custard, LOL

Not getting why this place gets such high rating. I got a classic apple pie. It had soggy bottom, filling was not terrible but on rather plain and too sweet (I only tasted sugar with no cinnamon or anything else). Their claim to fame butter crust is not bad, but nothing different. For something close to $30, it's also a small pie. I know of at least two pie stores in the area that are better, and just more special in every way. It would have been really nice to have a good pie place in the neighborhood, but I would not come back here unfortunately.

I took one of their pie making classes and it was so much fun! Small groups for more hands on learning. The owner is funny, friendly, and very passionate and knowledgeable! I did the butterscotch apple pie and walked away with an amazing pie and the recipe. So much fun and so worth it!!

My sister and I think that this pie shop has the best pie crust out of the various pie crusts we’ve tried in our lives, and so this is our favorite shop for pie : o The store owner occasionally does baking classes onsite for pie and some other baked things, and she gives good and insightful instructions and also gives good feedback as we follow along after her demonstration. The pies and the classes are well worth the money : )

This is hands down the best pie shop in town. Every year for my birthday and special occasions I buy pies from here. They are freshly made and delicious. Highly recommend!
