Crema's Take

Eats is a beautifully designed restaurant near Gallivan Plaza that feels more like a gathering place than a typical café, with an open kitchen that lets you watch scratch-made magic happen and a surprisingly calm atmosphere despite the crowds. Beyond solid coffee, they're known for thoughtfully executed food—think crispy Brussels sprouts and creative pizzas—making it perfect for lingering over work or catching up with friends without the pressure to rush.

We went in on a busy Friday evening was told it was a 20 min. We were willing to wait then it turned into an hour. We figured any where we went would be busy so stayed. We got a free appetizer for waiting so long. Other than the wait, staff was friendly and food was delicious. Brussel sprouts is a must try!

Ok. I’m not a foodie. BUT, wow! The brussel sprouts appetizer was absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of sweet and salty with savory and the texture was crunchy. The scratch burger, BBQ chicken pizza, and braised short ribs were amazing! I paired the Brussels sprouts with the braised short ribs and it was so good I closed my eyes and almost passed out from how amazing it was. Service and atmosphere also chill and respectful. O yes, the dessert, Apple chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream also delicious. My wife and I will be back!!

Such a wonderful place by the Gallivan Plaza! I was immediately blown away by the interior which had a gorgeous design and wasn’t loud at all. Our waiter came and seated us promptly and was very patient as we discussed for a while what we wanted. We ordered the steak brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries to share which she split for us to do so. We also ordered the prosciutto pesto pizza which was delicious! The food and environment were so great that we ended up staying over an hour just enjoying it, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Really enjoyed the food here! All the food that my party ordered looked and tasted great. Love the interior, the half open kitchen, and the “from scratch” vibe. The service was great, and we came at a time that wasn’t busy at all. Perfect place to come for relaxed, sit-down experience if you’re downtown. Great for business/client lunches.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was our second visit to From Scratch, and once again it did not disappoint! We travel from Pennsylvania to Salt Lake several times a year, and this spot has become a must-visit for us. It’s truly a hidden gem, tucked just off the main drag in a back alley near the Salt Palace, with other fun spots around it. What makes this place stand out is that they really do live up to their name—everything here is made from scratch. Their sourdough bread is baked fresh daily, their fries are made to order, and even their sauces, jams, pastas, pizzas, and pastrami are crafted in-house. You can taste the difference in the freshness and quality of every dish. On this visit we enjoyed the soup, sourdough bread boards, burgers with sweet potato fries, and beet salad with grilled chicken. Everything was bursting with flavor and so thoughtfully prepared. A special shoutout to Chelsea, the manager who also served our table. She was absolutely amazing—so friendly and attentive—and even recommended a great local coffee shop for us to check out after lunch, which was super helpful since we’re visiting from Pennsylvania. The atmosphere is relaxed but stylish, and the service makes you feel like a regular. From Scratch is the kind of restaurant that feels local and authentic while delivering high-quality food you’ll remember long after you leave. Highly recommend—we’ll definitely be back again on our next trip to Salt Lake City!
