Crema's Take

O'Henry's is a beloved Birmingham institution that roasts some of the state's finest coffee, with espresso and pour-over drinks made by folks who clearly know their craft—their beans are thoughtfully sourced from multiple regions and roasted with precision rather than burnt into submission. The retro-diner aesthetic paired with smooth jazz, patient staff, and a genuinely welcoming vibe makes it the kind of place where you'll see regulars settled in with laptops and newcomers lingering over pastries and full breakfast plates, though the premium quality does come with prices to match. If you're serious about your coffee and want to sit awhile in a quiet, genuine local space, this is exactly where you belong in Birmingham.

O’Henry’s is a must-visit for anyone who loves classic American diner fare with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the retro-inspired décor and friendly staff make you feel right at home. The menu is impressively diverse, offering everything from hearty breakfast dishes and indulgent sandwiches to fresh salads and flavorful entrees. Their breakfast options, in particular, stand out—fluffy pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs, and savory omelets that are both satisfying and generously portioned.

Quiet, calm, smooth jazz music, polite staff. One of the most amazing coffee roasters in the state. Pricy, yet for the coffee connoisseurs it is a must if you are visiting Birmingham or if you live in the area. Symbolic of upper class, of fair trade, of ethical methods of doing business & how to build a reliable community relationship with consumers. Keep an eye out if they expand! They have all the right ✅️ mix for substantial growth! I wish more local restaurants would carry thier brand, it would be so lovely to see a new up & coming chain to pair with this incredible coffee. Good night, I'm off to listen to Josephine Baker & imagine a nifty lil cocktail recipe with several amazing coffee flavors 😋

A cool local coffee shop recommended to us by family. It was an overall “good” experience but really nothing to make it great. The decor felt a bit dated. The employees were friendly but service took a while on a Sunday morning and the coffees were not amazing. Their signature honey cinnamon latte did not have much of a coffee flavor and appeared that they used a honey syrup instead of real honey. They got the size wrong and spilled some espresso on the cup, nbd but just wasn’t wow’d by this place. The cleanliness of the interior and back areas had room for improvement.

Great coffee selection. Much better than Starbucks. In fact, they offer coffees from multiple regions. The roasts are well done and not overdone. Usually with Starbucks the beans are over roasted with an ashtray or cigarette flavor. The atmosphere is comfortable and cosy. Very friendly staff and the place was busy in the middle of the day. I much prefer this coffee shop over Starbucks any day. The prices are comparable to Starbucks. It seems that everyone is now charging over $3 for a brewed coffee. Gotta love inflation. I would love to see brewed coffee offered as a loss leader on tap for regulars. The food menu is varied and looks interesting. Should be something for everyone.

Love their coffee and food. Every single meal I have had on the menu is great! The down side to this location is the chairs and tables outside don’t really match. It’s hard to work because the chairs sit very low compared to the height of the table which makes it a hard work space to be outside. Also you can’t set up a computer outside if you need an outlet which makes for short work time here. The inside is cute and there are better working options there but in my opinion the outside patio is more for socializing then working.
