Thomas Hammer

Crema's Take
“Thomas Hammer pulls double duty as both a serious coffee destination and a buzzy social hub in Spokane, with espresso and pour-over drinks that earn consistent praise alongside a full breakfast menu and even alcohol service. The modern, tasteful space fills quickly with families and students, especially during weekends and brunch, creating that energetic café atmosphere some love and others find overwhelming. While the coffee quality is genuinely strong, the experience here hinges heavily on which staff member you encounter and whether you're visiting during peak hours or seeking a quieter sit.”

Do you have nitro on tap? No, machine is broken. Three months later do you have nitro? No still broken. It’s been over a year and the primary reason I used to come here is indefinitely down for maintenance. Today they don’t even haves the can nitro in stock and oh you want to buy this French press that costs almost $50? That’s great but we’re sorry we can’t break $100. I’m not buying a drip coffee and asking you to give me change. I used to be a regular and now I will actively avoid this place. There are better options.
This particular location is fine if you enjoy a loud bar-like atmosphere on the weekends and during brunch time. Seats fill up fast with families and college students studying. As for the service, it’s different and sometimes nice to have someone come find you and serve you your beverage but other times I’d prefer the old-school way of calling out orders from the bar. But because of how loud and spacious the floor plan is, that’s not doable. Pro tip: if you like espresso beverages like shots or Americanos, be aware of when they just got through a rush. It takes a hot minute for them to re-calibrate the machine-I’ve gotten plenty of over-extracted shots that were tough to get down.
Good coffee, in a modern and tasteful environment. Food is minimalistic, but it competes. However. I stopped going here because the lady with the neck tattoo is always super rude to me, and I'm as polite as ever as a customer having worked in customer service myself. I'm not sure what her attitude problem is, but she's really not that important or impressive to be throwing shade on customers as a barista. I truly wish the owners would take the time to care, and train their employees. I'm embarrassed for them; this place could be five stars if staff actual tried, and showed a minimal level of kindness, respect, and decency. Until then, there are plenty of coffee shops around Spokane that offer similar products, in a casual atmosphere, at lower costs, without making the customer feel unwelcome or stupid. I don't get it, but I will stay away.
The coffee and food here are great, But… The Customer Service is what I want to comment on. My daughter and I were in town and staying at an Airbnb near by and we came here every day for coffee ☕️ 💖 From the girls at the front counter to the girls in the drive through, everyone complimented us, engaged in conversation and were genuinely sweet and friendly. Thank you for making this spot so welcoming while in town 🥰 ☕️
Great coffee shop and they serve alcohol as well for those partaking. The hot chocolate was good and is pictured. Also had the Hot Honey Sausages and Roasted Brussel Sprout Salad. So good! Great selection of sweet and savory cravings.
