Crema's Take

Tucked inside a Norfolk bookstore, this cozy neighborhood gem is run by a warm "dynamic duo" who treat every regular and first-timer like family, earning loyal praise for their genuinely kind service. The kitchen shines with comforting, thoughtfully-prepared food—think ham and cucumber sandwiches, hearty country soup with collard greens, and standout chicken salad—that pairs beautifully with traditional coffee drinks in a space that feels like a living room rather than a cafe. It's the kind of place where you'll linger over a pastry, strike up conversations, and wonder how you didn't know about it sooner.

The food was excellent! This was the first time going here, we have been in the book store never realized the Lizard Cafe was there. Definitely will go again.

I had the Bowl of Soup (Country) and half a sandwich (Ham and Cucumber) with coffee. The ham and cucumber was delightful. The waitress recommended it. The soup - Country - has navy beans, collared greens and ham. I would get both again. I chose the pasta option for the combo. It was a interesting mix, but has good taste.

Today Gloria & I went to a place that we both never tried. Its been here for 5 yrs I can't believe this. This was the best food and great service so close to home. Gloria had chicken salad with pasta. I had sweet potato biscuit and Greek salad with chips. This was the perfect meals for both of us.

We were visiting Nauticus and decided to eat here as it's conveniently located close by. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and found our seats at a booth. I was told the chicken salad is a favorite so I promptly ordered it. Disappointed by the soft mounds of lettuce on top ( crispy romaine would work better) and the chicken salad was too heavy in onion or garlic powder. Ordered pasta salad but got fresh fruit instead. Biscuit was dry and overall tasted like oil. It appeared like a popular spot and there is only metered parking around it.
