El Tigre
123 Heiman St, San Antonio, TX
Crema's Take
“El Tigre is a spacious yet intimate San Antonio spot where creative honey-forward drinks are the real stars—think iced Americans with salted honey and oat milk, or their bright, fresh matcha made without added sugars. The artsy, vibes-filled atmosphere makes it equally perfect for lingering over a laptop or catching up with loved ones, and the genuinely warm staff clearly takes pride in crafting each drink with care, whether that's a pistachio milk vanilla latte or a perfectly pulled espresso.”

This one of my go to coffee shops, when I’m in the office. A couple of favorites—ice matcha with honey (they use local honey), iced American with salted honey and splash of oat milk, or a dirty honey vanilla chai. Definitely try a sandwich from Chef Matt and Gigi’s deli.
Spacious and intimate, cozy artsy coffee spot. Ordered a matcha and the ingredient was bright, fresh, no added sugars. Sunday morning, parking across the street was free for 1hr, accessible, and plentiful.
Came in here on a nice sunny Saturday while I was taking my grandma out for her weekly walk around the block. I got my usual matcha and a caramel latte for her. The matcha tasted kinda... strange? Compared to when I usually get it. Anyway within 5 minutes of walking around with our drinks my stomach was feeling not so great.. My grandma said the same thing and requested I take her home immediately. I basically spent the entire rest of the afternoon on the toilet with probably the worst stomach pain i've ever felt in my life. I mean I was sweating bullets staring up at the heavens begging the sweet lord for mercy. I hadn't really eaten anything else that day so I'm guessing maybe the matcha and caramel were expired or something??? So yeah thanks for ruining me and my grandma's weekend Tigre, I won't be coming back.
I loved this place so much, the staff was so nice and warm! I ordered the hot vainilla latte with pistachio milk and I’ve never had anything like it it was soooooo good!!! I also had the pain au chocolat and it was really good too! :) The location is so perfect as well and super safe and chill!
I’ll start with when I walked in. It’s a hot San Antonio day and I’m hit with a blast of cool air and just like the sign outside says “vibes”, which are certainly good ones. El Tigre is a colossal step up from their upstairs neighbors, but that’s another review for another time. Enough chit chat. I ordered the brown butter latte with whole milk. I’m glad I did I have never had anything like and it’s definitely worth ordering again mellow and sweet with savory notes from the brown butter. I also had their matcha tea with almond milk and honey which turned out to be so smooth and very much so complemented the matcha’s earthy and aromatic flavor. Lastly their doughnut (vegan) was great, not too sweet and really spongy, like a banana bread doughnut of sorts. By the way their baked goods are sourced from a local bakery by the name of Cake Thieves, who do have vegan and non vegan options. The dine in experience was awesome the whole place is a vibe. The layout is open and the decor is easy on the eyes, from the acme style brick walls and the lovely art work posted, El Tigre is a place to unwind from a long day, week, year etc. All in all great experience and before I forget, Bre was an amazing barista with great energy and most definitely added to the wonderful experience. Thank you El Tigre Coffee Roasters!
