Crema's Take
“Tucked on Omaha's 24th Street, Jackson's Fair Deal Cafe is a genuine neighborhood gathering spot where homemade comfort food and warm service create the kind of soul-satisfying experience that keeps people coming back. Their chicken and waffles and salmon croquette sandwich showcase honest, well-executed comfort cooking that pairs perfectly with the relaxed R&B-tinged atmosphere and the sort of staff who remember you're there to linger, not rush.”

I feel late to the game just now finding this amazing food spot, and honestly, I’m so sad I didnt find this place sooner. This is the type of home cooked soul warming food I have been searching for in Omaha. The waitresses are amazingly kind and very personable. My wife says the sweet tea was to die - whereas my personal high light was the fried okra. Fried okra is one of my mom and my favorite apps and this place does them right - right here at home. Highly recommend stopping by, even the food is named after places we love. This is the heart of what makes North O what it is today. Keep up the good work y’all.
Excellent even on a challenging day! They provided excellent food. The chicken and waffles were phenomenal! Small issues were address and corrected with upmost sincerity. These are people who truely care. There was so much genuine care for our dining experience. We will be back.
Jackson's was a nice place to visit on 24th Street. But the food needs some refinement. I ordered the salmon croquette sandwich and all that came was a dry salmon patty on a bun. No Sauce, and not even a little lettuce onion and tomato. I have to admit the bun was very nicely toasted and the okra was fried to perfection. But again, no sauce came with it. As a foodie, I feel that this eatablishment has a lot of potential that could be achieved through a bit of thoughtfulness about texture. Truly, a little signature aioli and some pickled garnishes would go a long way here.
The restaurant was a great choice after a long day at the zoo. We met a friendly couple upon arrival and had great recommendations. The music leaned over to the R&B vibes! As far as food goes, a few pieces of the ribs were dry and hard to eat but the tender pieces were delicious. The mac n cheese was great, and the greens maybe needed to be cut down some depending on preference. The catfish and peach cobbler were also delicious. Overall, I do recommend. However, ordering a plate to go, brought the prices to a hefty amount.
As someone who loves food, this place hits home. The waitress and staff were amazing even though our order was so large. No complaints at all. The salmon croquette sandwich was delicious. The chicken was fried well and moist. The fried okra, macaroni, fries, spaghetti, baked beans, shrimp and grits, and potato casseroles set my taste buds alit happily. My son even enjoyed roaming around the restaurant.☺️ Will be coming back to try their waffles.
