Crema's Take

This espresso-focused café at The Pearl nails the fundamentals with expertly crafted specialty drinks like their dark chocolate almond latte and creative variations with Mexican vanilla, though the experience can feel uneven depending on who's behind the counter. The vibe is solidly local and laid-back, with strong coffee quality matched by an equally distinctive merchandise selection that customers genuinely get excited about. It's the kind of place worth stopping into when you're already in the neighborhood, where you might catch exceptional service from someone like Megan or find yourself waiting while staff chat among themselves.

We ordered the dark chocolate almond latte and a vanilla oat milk latte. Both were really good! We got our drinks right away, it was a really short wait time and the staff was friendly. I would love to come back and try more off their menu!

The coffee is great, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff seems more interested in chatting with each other than attending to customers, which makes the service much slower. If they could be more focused, I bet the place would be making more sales while providing a smoother experience. This shop used to be very attentive when it first opened, but that high standard only lasted a couple of years.

BLUF: Solid coffee offerings, get coffee here if you’re at The Pearl, but wouldn’t come to The Pearl to get coffee here. Local business. I’ve always had a great experience at Local Coffee Founders at The Pearl. Their cold brew is a reliable thirst quenching caffeinated option if you’re in the area, and they offer all of the coffee shop staples you’d expect. During peak hours, this isn’t the coffee shop I’d come to for relaxation or to get some work done on my laptop, the interior is small, seating is limited, and the ambient noise is louder than you’ll find in other places. They’re dog friendly, but I would recommend going with someone that can wait outside while you order or vice versa. Service has always been fairly good, but you’ll definitely want to listen closely for them to announce your order is ready. There’s ample seating outside in the adjacent courtyard and The Pearl District in general. I like to get coffee here when I’m already in the area, especially during the weekend markets, but this isn’t the place I’d come to get coffee otherwise. As with most businesses at The Pearl you’re going to be paying a comparative premium to the cost of similar goods elsewhere. Things worth knowing ahead of time: Ample parking at The Pearl, cost varies based on the time and day of the week though. I believe it’s still free weekdays before 3pm, and always free for the first 30 minutes. Expect to walk a bit regardless of where you park, as there is no parking directly adjacent to the cafe.

First time visiting this location and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Megan was so sweet and helpful. I ordered the vanilla oat latte iced with Mexican vanilla which was delicious. The lemon blueberry muffin was also delicious! Gorgeous location.

Yes, the coffee is just as awesome as the merch. I have never seen such "drippy" merch. The colors, the style, and the variety were all there. I had to snag one to bring back home. The cafe was super cool and busy. That's a good sign. We didnt have to wait long to order or to be served. The barista was friendly and knew her stuff. The Cortado was tasty (read: richhh) and the Dark Chocolate Almond latte was on point. I even picked a bag of beans to bring back home. Overall, a great cafe. Do recommend it.
