Capitol Cafe
1001 Congress Ave, Austin, TX
Crema's Take
“Nestled across from UT's campus, Capitol Cafe pulls in a steady crowd looking for a reliable cup of strong coffee and a comfortable place to linger, with a friendly staff that keeps regulars coming back. Their pastries, particularly the banana nut bread muffin, pair nicely with traditional espresso drinks, though fair warning—the food pricing can feel steep for what you're getting, and it's worth clarifying customizations upfront to avoid surprises.”

Coffee was good and strong, had the ham & cheese croissant. The service was very good and friendly. The shop was nice and clean, it’s a good location right across from UT and the stadium and the museums.
Ordered a cheese pizza ($10.81). It was good except of course for the burnt crust I couldn’t eat. It literally broke my fork. I would try it again and ask them not to burn it. Also be sure to take your card, they do not accept cash.
Staff is friendly but the food is overpriced for a basic turkey and cheese sandwich. No lettuce, tomato came with it just basic meat and cheese on bread. Save your money and bring a sandwich from home. The music is noticeable but other tables were having conversation. If you’re going to Blanton’s museum, maybe check out a different restaurant. This one is more tailored to the office workers nearby.
Absolutely I would never come back here I ordered a sandwich and just for asking for it in croissant 🥐 I had to pay a dollar more wowwwwww the coffee has no refill seriously only two slices of ham and cheese what a misery I recommend better to go to McDonald's oh another place 4 employees just having a meeting talking laughter gossip but not paying attention to the details the dirty floor the bathroom without soap the dirty napkins wowwww I hope the general manager looks at this oh yes the owner is better! ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌ ALSO YOU NEED TO PAY FOR YOUR COFE CREAM WOWWW WE OAY FOR OUR HALF AND HALF WE NEVER SEE THIS KIND OF COFFEE SHOP THAS RIDICULOUS ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌
Awesome service, place is nice and cold inside on a summer hot day. Coffee is delicious, banana nut bread muffin is always a hit. Friendly service with a variety of drink offerings from coffee to wine and a fountain soda machine.
