Crema's Take

Tucked into Bellingham, Iron Rooster Bakery is an espresso-focused spot where the real star is their exceptional pastry game—reviewers rave about life-changing danishes with impossibly fluffy, custard-topped layers and almond croissants that rival anything you'll find in specialty bakery towns. The compact, welcoming space strikes that perfect balance between cozy enough for lingering over your coffee and sociable enough for a meeting, with genuinely caring staff who make you feel like a regular from your first visit.

We’ve visited Iron Rooster Bakery twice this season, and both visits have been exceptional. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by friendly, welcoming staff who clearly care about the experience they’re providing. Even during busy times, everyone remains helpful, patient, and upbeat. We’ve sampled several items from the menu and have been impressed every time, but the almost croissant truly stands out—it’s flaky, rich, and absolutely delicious. Despite the often long lines, the bakery is extremely efficient and the food comes out quickly without sacrificing quality, which speaks volumes about how well they’re run. While it’s a little on the pricey side, the quality of the food, consistency, and overall experience make it more than worth it. Iron Rooster Bakery has easily become our favorite bakery in Fairhaven, and it’s a spot we’ll continue coming back to whenever we’re in the area.

It’s a very cute little place that variety of Bigfoot. Their coffee is actually really good surprisingly were coming from San Francisco and I have a little corner table set up and on Saturdays. This group comes in there hangs out. They talk about politics and everything else. That’s a very cute very attractive. Highly recommend to try month.

Life changing danish!! I’ve always had danishes but none like the ones here! Iron Rooster does such an amazing job making fluffy, layered pastry and topping it off with a good scoop of custard (cream cheese) and a load of fruit! There is a line up for a reason! Would love to try the other pastries. Iced latte was also good; there is some outdoor seating and liked like they opened up some indoor seating that opened up later (or I might have missed it initially, being so focused on the danish)

The croissants had a good butter taste but they weren’t fluffy or airy on the inside. It was a bit dense and as you can see from my photos they were lacking some air pockets that create the rise and the fluffy texture. The chocolate croissant was more dense than the butter croissant 🥲. They were also priced about a $1 more than what I’d expect it to cost ($5+ for plain butter croissant is a bit 🫤). For that price, I’d expect perfection or at least make up for it with some beautiful ambience/interior seating or something. I normally eat croissants all the time whenever I go to a cafe for coffee, and I had one everyday when I was visiting Paris. These croissants were not bad, but not good, I’m sorry 😞 I was hoping to find pillowy croissants with fragrant butter smell/taste.

Yum Yum Yum. I have not found a treat at this bakery that is not absolutely the best I’ve ever had. There almond croissant is absolutely the most fabulous croissant I’ve ever had. Paired with one of their fabulous mocha lattes you absolutely can’t go wrong
