Junbi Matcha
722 E Pike St, Seattle, WA
Crema's Take
“Junbi brings Seoul's matcha culture to Seattle with inventive flavor combinations like black sesame sweet potato and yuzu dragon that elevate traditional matcha beyond the expected sweetness. Their thoughtfully crafted drinks showcase genuinely quality matcha that appeals to both purists wanting less-sweet preparations and adventurous drinkers chasing creative seasonal specials. If you're hunting for a quick but serious matcha destination that treats the drink as an art form rather than an afterthought, this is worth seeking out.”

I was super excited to try junbi Because I’ve heard such great things about it! The Matcha is definitely super good and I recommend it if you like Matcha that’s on the less sweet side. If you’re coming on a weekday, I would expect a little bit of a wait since there’s only one employee. My biggest complaint, however, is the lids. I don’t know if the employee didn’t put them on right or if it’s just how it’s made however, I picked up two machos for a friend and I and put them in the cupholders. I didn’t notice until I got to my apartment that the lids had come undone, and Matcha had spilled all over the cupholders. This was a complete mess to clean up and in the process it ended up spilling on my shirt. It is honestly super frustrating and so I would keep this in mind if you’re taking the Matcha to go. One drink was mostly fine however, most of another drink spilled in the process
As a mango matcha connoisseur, this was really delicious but a tad sweeter than standard matcha spots. The matcha quality was good and I really wish I could have tried the guava matcha while I was in town but it was unfortunately out of stock. Would visit again when I’m in town. Cute vibe and good amount of seating.
Heard a lot about Junbi and finally went to their Seattle location. I ordered the BT21 Galaxy Matcha Latte (black sesame, sweet potato, milk, and matcha). The flavors were interesting, but the matcha texture felt a bit grainy, which isn’t my preference. Service was quick and friendly, and the store itself is really nice and welcoming. Overall, a decent experience, just not my favorite matcha.
I have had this place in Houston for the first time a year or two ago in this place tasted the same. If you’re looking for a quick and convenient spot, this is the place for you! Most of their syrup and flavors are a little overpowering in my opinion, I tasted more of the fruit rather than the Matcha. Overall, it is on a sweeter side, but it definitely gets worth a try!
Went in because my usual Boba tea place in Capitol Hill, Comebuy Tea, had its teapresso machine broken. I am astonished by the sheer quality of all of its products at Junbi. I ordered the Yuzu Dragonfruit Green Tea, and added Boba for a little over $8 in total. The tea is amazing, fresh from Japan, so it is bitter. On hindsight I should have gotten 75% sugar since the yuzu grapefruit and dragonfruit is quite sour. The boba was cooked perfectly in brown sugar and it absorbed the drink's flavor. 8.8/10 (9+ with more sugar but I drank it all regardless) The Salmon Onigiri was also the best I've ever had in the United States. It is on par, if not better, then the ones in Japan's Convenience Stores for 300 yen. The salmon is extremely fresh and not skimped out, pressed firmly in a mold so it's great for the value. The store is also very clean with a customers only bathroom despite it being in the heart of Capitol Hill.
