Daily Byte

306 S Wright St, Urbana, IL

★★★★★4.5(44 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

Daily Byte offers a budget-friendly caffeine stop for Urbana's campus crowd, with surprisingly solid grilled cheese and sandwiches that punch above their price point and friendly staff who make the spot feel genuinely welcoming. Their matcha tea shows real care for specialty drinks beyond just espresso, though consistency seems to be an ongoing challenge—you might get a wonderfully unique matcha one visit and regret your order the next. It's the kind of place where the value proposition and approachable vibe win out over technical perfection, especially if you're looking to fuel up between classes without breaking the bank.

I asked for a coffee and they just completely ignored I said anything. I even asked a second time, but they just charged $6 for two cookies and never made my order

Best place to get a coffee on the engineering quad. They have really good grilled cheese and sandwiches too. Much cheaper than espresso in grainger and the staff are friendly too

Matcha tea was unique and good. Chai latte left a lot to be desired. Good prices though.

Coffee is poorly made, and there's almost always huge chunks of grounds in what they serve. Sandwiches are absolutely awful; you could make better ones with one arm tied behind your back and blindfolded. The vegetables are cut in these huge, awkward chunks that fall everywhere. Any condiments that are applied are done directly to the bread and in huge quantities, leaving the bread soaked and easily broken. The ingredients used aren't actually that bad, but the way they're made are very poor. The smoothies are good...when there's not huge chunks of ice left in them. While the customer service attitudes of the staff are amazing, their actual services are far below acceptable.
