Gordy's Hi-Hat

415 Sunnyside Dr, Duluth, MN

★★★★★4.7(4,563 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

This beloved Duluth institution has built a devoted following thanks to its no-frills American diner classics—think loaded burgers, crispy fries, and creamy shakes—executed with surprising speed and care that keeps lines out the door. While it gained regional fame through TV food features, what really sets Gordy's apart is the warm, family-friendly atmosphere where both locals grabbing a quick bite and travelers seeking an authentic Minnesota experience feel equally welcomed. The combination of reasonable prices, genuinely fast service despite the crowds, and that genuine diner charm makes it the kind of place that earns its 4.7-star reputation through consistency rather than pretense.

Highly recommend! We had a California burger, chicken tenders, small fries, cheese curds and blackberry shake. They were all good, however my son said the tenders were soft. He loved the fries. Great atmosphere, vibe, plenty of seating and parking. Rich history and worthy of a visit!

Typical American food restaurant, which is famous in Duluth area all because of TV food channel has been introducing years ago. In fact, nothing surprising. One good thing is nice/fast service though there is always a long line. Plus, they kindly offer several picnic tables and 🚻 restrooms in the parking lot for customers and people who just drive by.

First time eating here. Prices were so much better than other places we've stopped. I was pleasantly surprised how fast they got us our order. The bacon deluxe burger was loaded with toppings and delicious. The onion rings were perhaps the best I've ever had. The fries were okay. I had heard the shakes were good so my wife and I split a strawberry shake and it did not disappoint! It was so good. Highly recommend stopping here. Oh, and the employees were so friendly even though they were really busy.

We got there on a Monday at 1pm and the line went out the door forever, the wait went pretty smooth about 30 minutes and the line was not any shorter when we left. 3 milk shakes, 2 fish and chips platters, one double hamburger, 1 mushroom and Swiss burger (my only knock are the mushrooms used are not great at all) onion rings, fries and cheese curds. Once we ordered the food was available in less than 10 minutes. The guy taking our order was fantastic. Def understand why this place is so popular.

Came to Palisade Head to see the sunrise even though the footpath was still covered in snow with my fiance and we arrived at Gordy's early to eat in. As a British person travelling up here for the first time, I especially wanted to try their Fish n Chips and burgers. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! The food was amazing, the batter of the fish, the juiciness of the fish, patties, fries and shakes. It was heaven. Also, the people working here were probably one of the most friendly and approachable staffs I've seen. I love how they try to make conversations which makes the visit more memorable. Overall service was great. Price was also very reasonable! Me and my partner would definitely be back here to eat as we were from further down the state.
