Crema's Take
“Abyssinia brings an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony to Phoenix, where the owner's genuine warmth and hospitality transform a meal into a cultural experience rather than just a transaction. The traditional Ethiopian coffee is the real draw here—served with ceremony and care—paired with generous, flavorful dishes like tibs and beets that transport you straight to East Africa, though you might want to go hungry or bring friends to tackle the abundant portions.”

Incredible food! We got the sampler and the beets and the tibs were my absolute favorite! The table next to us did the coffee ceremony and they said it was a great experience and that the coffee was great. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so welcoming and the decor is so cozy. The service is also excellent, the owner is so sweet! :) highly recommend.
I didn’t taste the authentic Ethiopian flavors I’m used to. The food was ok but it’s something I could’ve made at my house. It wasn’t worth the $30+ I spent. Very nice people and cute restaurant but if I’m honest, In my honest opinion- I wouldn’t come back for my Ethiopian fix.
Owner was very hospitable. We had kind of the sampler plate. My wife had the honey Meade, and I had the Ethiopian coffee after. The food was delicious and a LOT. Bring your appetite or a number of guests! We'll be back again!
I had Ethiopian Food 12 years ago and it was always a craving it in the back of my mind since then, skip to the present and I have a new job in Phoenix which gave me the final push to try Ethiopian food again since the city offers so many cultural cuisines and I searched the closest restaurant to my office. Abyssinia Restaurant and Cafe Ethiopia is the first choice and after I see the pictures and get hungry. Then when I get there the outer and inner decor is so cute and cozy! The service was amazing and when I wasn't too sure what to order the owner made wonderful recommendation. As soon as I started eating I was transported back to 18 when I first tried it. the injera was the right sour flavor that I remembered, the doro was soooo good and the yemisir watt was my favorite! But my favorite part was eating the injera soaked in all the different dishes😋 I'm definitely going to make this place a new routine!
Azi was super friendly the owner! Food was fresh and delicious 😋 honey wine was good as well, most of all I loved her coffee ☕️ she offered it for free which i thought was very sweet of her, Thank you Azi for being so friendly and nice to our family and kids. God bless you 🙏❤️
