Crema's Take
“Epoch Coffee is a 24-hour Austin staple that's become a genuine neighborhood gathering place, equally beloved by night owls needing espresso at 2am and laptop warriors camping out during the day. The baristas here are known for their friendliness and skill with espresso-forward drinks, and the shop has earned a reputation for being genuinely welcoming and inclusive—a rare quality that regulars clearly treasure. With its no-frills vibe nestled among thrift stores and bars, Epoch manages to feel both like a serious coffee destination and a casual hangout where you're just as likely to play Magic with friends as you are to get real work done.”

Open 24/24. Ideal place to work at during the day. Located near a bunch of thrift stores and bars. Also convenient if you want to cool down late into the night.
The best vibes all around, friendly and efficient baristas, and absolutely delicious espresso ☕️ played a game of magic with the homies and we appreciated the neighborhood charm and good weather!
Truly, as an unhoused member of the LGBT community, I had consistently felt supported and welcome at this location until recently. The barista, Matty; seemed to find it frustrating that I extend my desire for warmth and ability to rest amidst working on my music projects while they are on shift. Honestly, it seems there was more to the story as to why there was an aggressive mentality toward someone who has made purchases within the establishment, but also applied for a job given the premise of the community of proposed “acceptance” that is supposed to dwell there. After today, I can’t say I feel welcome and viewed without being judged by my external circumstances. Thanks EPOCH
This really has that hipster coffee shop vibe. The atmosphere is nice, the people cool, and the coffee was delicious. My wife got a cappuccino and I got the latte. Price was fair and they called my name right away. I like that they seemed to have a lot of places to sit even though they seemed pretty busy. The little touches inside are cool such as the Crown moulding wooden menu and all the decorations. Epoch coffee also has an outdoor sitting area if you wanna sweat while chugging your Java. It’s really a cool coffee shop, even if it feels out of place in that neighborhood.
Epoch Coffee has a unique, no-frills charm that makes it a great spot to work or just enjoy a quality cup of coffee. On Fridays, it feels more like a co-working space, with most customers focused on their laptops. This isn’t necessarily a downside or a plus—just an observation. The calm background music and quiet atmosphere definitely help with concentration. The space itself is simple and functional, with an open kitchen, a bar counter, and multiple seating areas. Every table has an outlet, making it an ideal place for remote work. There are also two outdoor seating areas for those who prefer fresh air. The interior isn’t modern or overly designed, but that’s part of its authenticity. It feels like a place that gained popularity long ago and has remained a staple thanks to its steady flow of visitors. The friendly staff, relaxed vibe, and consistently good coffee make it a solid choice for both work and casual visits.
