Very welcoming restaurant with friendly staff and wonderful food! We'll definitely be returning when we're in the area.

Stopped with some coworkers for lunch because a few others mentioned this spot, and it was fantastic! Ordered the baba ghanoush as an appetizer which was so flavorful and the lamb shawarma for my entrée. No regrets. The lunch portion was super affordable and even though the menu said it was a smaller portion, there was still plenty of food! The plate also came with a side salad that had some of the best dressing and a small side of hummus that was phenomenal. Flavor levels maxed out, the staff were kind and accommodating, and the restaurant was cozy. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping!

We stopped at Petra Cafe on our drive home from Florida and were really glad we did. The Mediterranean food was excellent, with generous portions and great flavor across the board. I ordered the gyro plate with a falafel appetizer. The falafel was crisp on the outside, tender inside, and paired perfectly with a flavorful tzatziki. The gyro meat was well seasoned and satisfying. I also had the hot tea, which was served in a beautiful tea set. The tea itself was aromatic and very enjoyable, making it a nice complement to the meal. They offer plenty of gluten-free options that are clearly marked on the menu, which made ordering easy and comfortable for my wife. She felt safe and confident with her choices. There’s also a kids’ menu with standard kid-friendly options — both of my kids went with the fried mac and cheese and were very happy. We visited on a Saturday for an early lunch, and it wasn’t too busy. It started to pick up closer to noon, but the overall vibe stayed relaxed, with upbeat music and a comfortable atmosphere. This was a great stop and one we’d happily make again.

It honestly feels like stepping into someone’s home rather than a restaurant. Everything — the food, the quality, the vibe, the details — is on point. If you’re looking for authentic Mediterranean flavors, comfort, and quality all in one place, Petra Cafe absolutely delivers. This place doesn’t try too hard — it just is good.

The best part of this restaurant is it is opened till late night! I reached Hattiesburg very late and was super hungry and found out this restaurant was open. The food here was taste and good portion too! I had to get a to-go box, lol! The staffs were super friendly too! Would definitely recommend people to taste the Mediterranean food!!
