Crema's Take

This beloved Charleston bakery has earned devoted regulars with their genuinely exceptional bread and pastries that keep customers coming back weekly—the ciabatta and cheese loaves are standouts, and prices feel refreshingly fair for the quality you're getting. Beyond the impressive baked goods, they nail the cozy neighborhood spot vibe with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere that makes even parking-weary visitors happier to be there. Whether you're grabbing their famous monkey bread, a fresh loaf for dinner, or settling in with a coffee and pastry, Charleston Bread feels less like a quick transaction and more like discovering a local treasure.

We are from N.C. and had went to get some pottery in St. Albans. We decided to stop in Charleston on the way back home to have lunch. We saw the bakery and decided to go in. We asked about the raisin bread. Oh my gosh, luckily they had one raisin bread left. This is the best raisin bread I’ve ever had. ❤️ We will call to reserve items the next time we’re coming through.

The ciabatta bread was amazing. Lovely loaf of cheese bread. The cookies were delicious. Prices are beyond reasonable for the quality.

I had heard of this place before and decided to try them for the first time on a whim yesterday - I was a little hesitant to go at first because normally Charleston parking is a nightmare but this place has their own little free parking lot on the left side. All I want to say is their SEEDED SOURDOUGH is the best MF bread I have ever eaten. It is way better than store bought and now I am going to be a repeat customer. You will pay a little more than what you are going to pay for bread at a grocery store but it is WELL WORTH IT and cheaper than I thought it would be. Their employees were also very nice!

I grew up with bread from the grocery store, so going to a bakery weekly in order to get our bread supply was a novelty. It quickly turned into a habit, and there’s no turning back. Update: We were lucky to land a loaf of kalamata, absolutely delicious and what it sounds like, and I got creative for lunch unsung end pieces, eggs, shredded and sliced cheddar cheese, meat crumbles (sausage in our house but you do you) and chives. Muffin tin, 400• for 14 minutes, strips of cheddar over top for another 2 minutes. First Watch couldn’t put out anything better. Pictured. Hope someone else tries it! Original: The bread choices are all delicious, and we love the sourdough varieties best. The bagels are the best I’ve ever had, the baguettes crispy and buttery and oh so versatile. The cookies and other treats are also delicious. I don’t have a photo of the bread or store, but here’s our girl enjoying the last of the baguette. Highly recommend.

Always good and fresh. Delightful desserts and nice varieties of bread 🍞 ❣️ The pumpkin seed granola is very good with my blueberries and yogurt 😋 Don't monkey around. Try their Monkey Bread, yum. Got bagels for the first time had to be there when they were ready no ordering ahead but definitely worth it. Took one bite of my jalapeno cheese bagel on the way out had to go back and get another, in fact I got one of each they're all good.
