Folklores Coffee House
1943 N. New Braunfels Ave, San Antonio, TX
Crema's Take
“Folklores Coffee House is a genuinely cool spot with grungy alt-rock vibes, funky decor, and walls lined with skateboards and posters that make it feel authentically lived-in rather than manufactured for Instagram. Their espresso-focused menu features creative signature drinks like the Cuban B and Siouxie that pack real flavor complexity, and the space is perfectly suited for long study sessions with friendly staff who know their craft. Fair warning: arrive early if you can, since mornings get hectic with limited staff, but the cozy, welcoming atmosphere is absolutely worth the patience.”

This place is a vibe! Love the funky decor and it feels so cozy especially during a study session. I came a couple days ago for the first time with a friend from class to study. I went to order a drink and the barista had a 'tude! That can be a deal breaker for customers because who wants to come to an establishment and have crappy personality slapped to them with their food/drink and receipt? No one. Other than her being in a funky mood, I didn't allow it to ruin the rest of my experience there. The place is semi small and good for a small group of 4 per table. There is an upstairs small area which has a long table with 4 chairs to study that overlook downstairs. The lemonade was good and the environment was fun to look at.
Definitely not your "Insta-Chic" aesthetic coffee shop. This shop definitely has darker, yet still welcoming vibes. Early in the morning (each time I've gone) they have limited staff, so BE PATIENT! The drinks are definitely worth the wait! One drink that's never failed me is the [hot] Siouxsie. I haven't tried it iced, but I guess that's an option now? [Don't come for me if it's not!] Food-wise, I had a Berry Bagel. It's quite a basic bagel, but the ingredients were good/fresh. Not ones they had in the fridge for a week. I've never experienced any issues with staff or other guests. If you like dark-aesthetic/niche shops, come on in. If you're looking for light and airy, try the coffee anyway. Just wish they had plentiful merch options.
Such a cool spot for coffee! The Cuban B and Siouxie were delicious! So many different flavors and options to choose from. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Wow what a great coffee shop. Def a vibe alt rock, grungy, cool, love the music and the posters and skateboards on the wall. I’m older now but enjoyed getting work done here and studying(charging plugs upstairs). The menu of coffee and specialty drinks was unique variety, the food is quality and tasty. Reminds me of die Alter Stattbahnhof in Schweinfurt Germany but as a coffee shop. The music is loud, I love studying with sound and music. But def louder than I’d prefer (I know I’m old now lol) I brought ear plugs to work and still hear stuff. I’d wish the volume was turned down a quarter knob. Obviously there is not parking which can be a concern. There is some street parking off Grayson which can be a hit or miss. A paid lot on Grayson, a small free lot in new braunfels, and some other street parking. I was worried about this but it wasn’t too bad just loop around the coffee shop and you’ll find something. As someone who loves working in coffee shops I’ll def be back
I really like this place when I first found it and I even got my whole office to start coming here There used to be a young guy who worked there and he made the coffees really well However, there’s a barista with super curly hair and I hate going there whenever she’s there. She’s really rude. She gives out the attitude like you’re bothering her. The last time I asked for my drink, hot she made it cold, and when I corrected her, she tossed it to the side and had another person remake it, even though there wasn’t another person waiting at the counter. I had bad encounters with her at least three times. She’s definitely the reason I won’t go back. I went back to Starbucks along with our office coffee runs Place is cute, flavors are fun but bad service isn’t worth it Original: Super cute place! Really good options! Good atmosphere and service! Google maps is not accurate but it’s close by all these other things too if you park in the wrong spot
