The Glendale Grind

421 N Sappington Rd, Webster Groves, MO

Crema's Take

This Webster Groves gem has quickly become the neighborhood's answer to chain coffee culture, with a thoughtfully curated selection of espresso drinks and an impressive pastry case featuring standout croissants and quiches sourced from quality local bakeries. The real magic happens in the atmosphere—local artwork adorns the walls, baristas genuinely engage with regulars, and there's a welcoming ease that makes it feel less like a caffeine pit stop and more like a gathering spot where conversations naturally happen. Whether you're settling in with a slow pour-over or grabbing a matcha tea, The Glendale Grind strikes that rare balance of being both seriously coffee-focused and genuinely family-friendly.

I went there for thr first time ad a replacement to Starbucks. I ordered a spinach and ricotta croissant, quiche and a hot chocolate. The guy who took my order was nice but he didn't my order for the quiche. The hot chocolate wasn't very chocolaty and the croissant hardly had any filling. The price wasn't bad but considering that's how the food was, probably not worth it. The overall environment wasn't that friendly or comfortable. Despite it saying it was good for working, there were only two comfortable places you could do that. The rest of the tables felt like a normal restaurant so I felt weird for bringing my tablet. And finally it was only open till 12. And it was my own fault for missing that fact, it still is isn't very convenient. Overall won't be going back.

Just what this area needed!!! Pastries, etc. are not baked on the premises, but they're outstanding -- absolutely hold their own with Comet Coffee and Clover&Bee. Coffee is perfectly good as well. But make no mistake: This is a neighborhood place through and through -- one that I hope sticks around for a long time.

The Glendale Grind in Webster was such a cute coffee shop! The service was exceptional and my tea was delicious. I loved the vibe, the local artists’ work on the walls and small gifts to purchase. I visited to take a class on sourdough bread and gut health and it was so fun! I will definitely be back! The owner was delightful!

TL;DR: This coffee shop is phenomenal - ignore the unfavorable reviews (some of which are obviously bogus) and go give it a shot for yourself. You won't regret it. I literally just walked out of Glendale Grind and feel compelled to write a review because 1. I had an exceptional experience and 2. I didn't encounter any of the negative experiences mentioned in the unfavorable/slightly unfavorable reviews. I was greeted with a genuine smile and warm welcome as soon as I walked in the door. This was my first time there and, while they have an abundance of options, the menu was not overwhelming. The friendly staff answered my questions and were happy to provide recommendations. I ended up going with the shaken espresso with a splash of oat milk and the broccoli cheese quiche. The espresso was robust and flavorful without being overpowering. Even with it being over ice, it wasn't watered down. Definitely puts espresso from chain coffee shops to shame. The quiche was delectable. It had perfectly flaky crust, wasn't soggy, the filling was creamy and flavorful without being heavy, it tasted super fresh, and they heated it to the perfect temperature to enjoy right away. The environment is warm and inviting, and offers a variety of seating options both inside and outside. Parking is easy, there's a surface lot that specifically serves the coffee shop immediately adjacent along the south perimeter of the building. Don't sleep on Glendale Grind, do yourself a favor and try it out.

I happened to drive by and see this is now a coffee place, so I had to pop in. Diana was so pleasant and welcoming, we started talking about her shop and had the sweetest conversation. Honestly, if her coffee is anything like her personality, my frappe and quiche tomorrow are gonna be made with love 🖤
