Crema's Take

Blue Front Cafe is a legendary juke joint in Madison that pulses with authentic Delta blues history and genuine community spirit, where you're as likely to catch Jimmy "Duck" Holmes performing live as you are to find locals lingering over fried chicken and conversation. The cafe honors its 75+ years of heritage with traditional drinks and weekend music that draws pilgrims from across the country, creating an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a living piece of American music culture rather than visiting a typical coffee shop.

Blue Front Cafe has been on my Blues Bucket list for 15 years. The day was truly the greatest live music experience of my 75 year old life. Sunday afternoon and Jimmy Duck played all afternoon. It was like hanging out with Jimmy and his town friends, just talking and listening to the BLUES LEGEND. Thank You! Dan From Chicago

I can't comment about the food or service, I came out to help Mz Ankh's Cafe with a event she cooked nachos, tacos, fish, and chicken dinners. But I did very much enjoy the Blues Fest they had at this facility, I will go back again and get back with you on the food and service

Not a more authentic perfect piece of history on the map. A must see. A must experience. It’s simply great to see Jimmy “Duck” Holmes and all the Blue Front Gang. Catch a festival or just a weekend gig! The people are great and it’s always a great experience!!

After watching “I am the Blues” we decided to stop by and see this legendary location. We were expecting it to be closed but to our surprise it is still open and this Juke Joint is amazing ! We met Jimmy “The Duck” Holmes and had an amazing conversation with him. We hung out for a few hours just soaking up the atmosphere. It felt like going back home.

I missed out on music but had a lovely time talking to staff. Sweet home feel to the place with locals hanging out. Fried chicken and potato wedges were great. Hope to come back on a day that has music
