Fezziwig's Food & Fountain
112 State St, Portsmouth, NH
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Portsmouth's charming old-town core, Fezziwig's is a cozy brasserie-style refuge with genuine vintage character and a wonderfully curated drink menu that spans from creative seasonal cappuccinos like their gingerbread specialty to soda fountain classics. The intimate space rewards the effort to find it with warm, unhurried service and an all-day brunch menu featuring crepes and pastries that feel like they belong in a different era—the kind of place where lingering over coffee and conversation is the whole point. It's small by design rather than accident, which means you're trading crowds and chain-store efficiency for genuine hospitality and an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a beloved local secret.”

It took over an hour to drive here. And we also paid for a couple of hours parking. This place is off the beaten path, with extensive walking to get to the center of Portsmouth, and much smaller than the description of it sounds. Unfortunately, immediately when I walked in at 1:20 on a Sunday, asking if we needed to seat ourselves, I was told they were closing at 1:30 with not even an option to order carry out. As you can see from the photo I posted, it says they close at 5pm. Very disappointing, to say the least. Even when I mentioned that their website states they close later and it took over an hour to get here, all I got was a "sorry". Sadly, the underwhelming appearance and the lack of explanation as to why they were closing early when their site states much later, is enough to not come back. Very disappointing.
Great vibes! Server was super nice, and the prices and food were awesome. Small selection, but it adds to the atmosphere
Visited Fezziwigs Food and Fountain on a cold winter Portsmouth Saturday stroll. I had the gingerbread cappuccino, and my wife enjoyed a wonderful pastry. Warm inviting and full of old-fashioned charm. A place where Ebenezer Scrooge would have discovered generosity, community, and kindness long before being visited by spirits.
We went to Fezziwig's Food and Fountain as a part of a scavenger hunt it was affiliated with two of its other sisters location. Our weekend stay was very short due to a wedding we went to that Saturday afternoon. By the time we were leaving the area, we came across the scavenger hunt on was on a mission to carry through before leaving. Fezziwig's Food and Fountain was a cutesy, decorative setting with a menu selection of food varieties and desserts to reel in customers. We stayed for drinks, macarons, and wanted to buy a Fezziwig's mug for the ride home. The dessert and drinks were okay and average. Service was friendly and the waitress was attentive before we left for the next place to go.
Unique brasserie style place with all day brunch, crepes and sandwiches. Extensive drink menu with hot coffees, teas or transitioning into ice cream or soda jerk style offerings or going to an adult alcohol menu with wines and beer. Fun ambiance with French bistro music setting the mood. Finally we received attentive service from the entire staff and absolutely enjoyed our dining experience.
