Streetcar Cafe
312 St Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA
Crema's Take
“Streetcar Cafe captures the best of New Orleans hospitality with genuinely warm service and a menu that delivers on the city's iconic specialties—think beignets that justify the hype and Po'Boys made fresh to order. The space strikes that rare balance of feeling authentically local while welcoming tourists with open arms, complete with surprisingly solid cocktails and pastries that make it perfect for a leisurely breakfast or quick coffee break. It's the kind of place where the staff remembers you're there to experience New Orleans, not just pass through it.”

This place was a wonderful find. From the moment we arrived, the service was quick, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The beignets were absolutely delicious, perfectly light and fluffy with just the right touch of sweetness. Paired with their iced coffee that was made just right. The Cajun fries were a standout as well. Crispy, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. They were truly hard to stop eating. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
We had the Shoyster PoBoy and the chocolate and Caramel Beignets. Andre’s our server was attentive and exceptional in every way! We highly recommend this for those tourists like us, we are planning to come back tomorrow to try something different in the menu!
UPDATE: I never made a false claim. I said the fries tasted a day old, not that they were. They were definitely not made fresh for us. Not everyone has the time to send food back. Besides, our waiter left half way through our meal (took a motorized scooter out of the closet and didn't even look our way) and didn't tell us. A simple "we are sorry and will try better next time" would have gone a long way. I don't recommend this place. There are so many restaurants nearby that were better. Try Coterie! We went twice and had two of the best meals of our trip. We were encouraged by all the other great reviews and decided to try out the restaurant and now we are thoroughly confused. My jambalaya was delicious, but I’ve had way better. The crab cakes I got were just not it. My husband’s gumbo was so salty. The fried fish was hot and tasty, but the fries underneath it were definitely not made fresh. They tasted a day old. Everything but the fried fish was not hot. It was my first meal ever in NOLA. I am very disappointed in a meal I’ve been dreaming about for years.
Touristy in the best way! A convenient, friendly place to try all of the famous specialties with quick service and reasonable prices for the quantity and quality. Cocktails are surprisingly good, too - for a food-centric place, they certainly produced the best old fashioned I’ve ever had! We’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu over the years and it’s all been great. I don’t know what it is about their potato salad, but it’s somehow got this extra little something that makes me order it no matter what else I’m getting. Special shoutout for having the Super Bowl halftime show on - we came in after a parade not even realizing it was that time and had the most magical experience watching with the enthusiastic staff and customers.
The food was amazing, one of the best ones we tried in New Orleans. We had Fried Shrimp PoBoy and Chicken Tender Platter. They were both very tasty! The atmosphere was very cute. Dewi was the nicest and sweetest server! Thank you, it was a very pleasant experience overall.
