Crema's Take

Z'otz is a moody, late-night gem that doubles down on its distinctive dark aesthetic with skeleton and dragon-themed decor, creating an atmospheric escape that feels worlds away from typical New Orleans coffee culture. Their espresso program is genuinely excellent, with creative signature drinks and standout pastries like their jalapeño cheese croissant that justify the slow, meditative pace of the place—just maybe skip Sundays and come ready to linger. It's the kind of spot where you'll want to settle in with a cold brew or matcha tea and embrace the intentional, unhurried rhythm, as long as you arrive on a weekday when the vibe can fully work its magic.

I give it 1 star based on the service alone. Everything else is above average to excellent. Don't go on a Sunday! You've been warned. It might be Monday before you get your drink. The rest of the week is so-so, dealing with attitude and quirkiness bordering on schizophrenia. The music is so all over the board it's hard to rate but at times it's intolerable to the highest degree. Death metal! I guess this all goes with the "cooler than thou" alternative nature of the place🤷🏽

I found Z’otz in the spring of 25’ I stop by once in a while to sit and work —— the coffee and food is amazing especially the Jalapeño croissant with cheese. The atmosphere can be better I love the music and the diversity but I noticed one of the employees (not sure his name but he has facial piercings) can’t be extremely RUDE to the customers and people in the area. He yelled at a customer for asking a question and makes rude remarks. This place is truly a gem. But the employee needs to understand politeness and respect for customers! How can you work at a coffee shop and have no human decency :( do better!

Personally I love Z’otz. If you are not familiar with New Orleans, the city is a bit like Amsterdam. There is a taste of everything here from formal/conservative to informal/unconservative. Z’otz is pretty far out on the latter end. The decor embodies a quirky humor, slightly morbid, very ‘alternative’. Patrons are mostly quiet studying types the half dozen or so visits I’ve made. Music is very varied, and you might discover something new. Coffee and treats are reliable, but the charm is in the bohemian feel.

Moody little coffee house with fun someone and dragons themed decorations and roasted coffee. They have a good list of coffee drinks and some baked goods. They have three rooms with several tables in each. There is paid and free street parking nearby.

This place is definitely unique. It has a dark rock sort of vibe...not my thing personally but it's cool. Lots of skeleton themes throughout and rock metal playing. I like that they are open late. They have 4 different bean roasts- medium, chicory, dark, and another blend- Highland something. Barista was nice and brewed another pot of coffee for us. The coffee was alright. It's got a lot of sitting space, and they have board games, as well as nights for movies or games. They've got half n half, soy milk, coconut milk, and regular milk for the coffee.
