Crema's Take

Tucked at the end of a rugged dirt road in Kona, this intimate family-run farm offers a genuinely educational experience where you can watch two distinct roasting methods side-by-side and taste how drum roasting's smoky char differs from cleaner air-roasted beans. The personalized tours feel refreshingly authentic—more raw island adventure than polished tourist stop—and the small-batch roasted beans, especially their celebrated pearberry chocolate-covered varieties, make for memorable takeaways that capture what makes Kona coffee special.

Smaller visitor hut that is at the top of a very rocky dirt road. The tour simply consisted of viewing the roasting room and tasting some of their coffee brands. The cost was $2 per small cup for the tasting (and normally they recommend tasting 5 flavors = $10), as opposed to the free tastings that are offered all throughout Kona. The tasting includes some tests of the local honey and syrups. Lots of mosquitos here so spray beforehand!

My favorite personal coffee roasting tour on the island. You get to see two different roasting processes and taste the difference between the two. Loved the tastings here!

Two roasting methods, traditional drum method requires a master roaster and incorporates the smoke of the roasting into the bean. While air roasting is faster and the beans don’t absorb the smoke from the roasting process. Delicious aromas as you approach and after the brief tour my recommendation is to do a tasting. Very smooth and delicious coffees.

Had a great experience at this coffee farm, very informative tour and very personalized. This is a very small and off the normal path type of real and raw island experience. If you are the type of adventurer that likes to go where most tourists will never hear of, give this a try.
