Crema's Take

Tucked into a charming hole-in-the-wall in Pilar, this café is the kind of place where Chef Julio's kitchen somehow cranks out perfectly executed chile rellenos and overstuffed burritos with the same warmth that greets river rafters, anglers, and weary travelers. The real magic happens on the front patio where a cup of traditional coffee pairs with fall sunlight and genuine conversation, making it an irresistible oasis between Taos and Santa Fe that keeps people coming back after they've "finally stopped by."

Stopped in 4/21/24. Bus full of rafters just ordered their food, and I was working close by, so I put in an order after all of them. The kitchen cranked out 15-20 orders and mine in like 15-20 minutes. My Chicken Fajita Burrito was delicious, and considering the amount of people and timing of everything, they did a great job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chef Julio & the Pilar Yacht Club is the best! Driving from Taos to Santa Fe, we came upon this oasis of great food and warm hospitality in Pilar NM Delicious! Chile Rellenos to die for, overstuffed tamales, and Peanut the Tortilla Hound. You might just speed on past this funky little joint but, that'd be a mistake. Great homey food & service, "Food Wars, Order Up," painting on door, canyon views - eat on the porch surrounded by hummingbirds and take a break from the road here. If you're looking for a memorable meal, get those tamales! Warmth and hospitality in spades.

I stopped here for lunch. The conversation was as good as the burrito. Definitely give it a try. Sitting out front and eating in the fall sunlight was a beautiful experience.

I have passed by this place many times and finally my wife and I stopped and are we glad we did! Neat little hole in the wall with excellent food, a fun staff and a really neat place to experience. Julio whips up great, authentic cuisine leaning toward true Mexican, but with spice. I enjoyed the Chicken Flautas (made scratch to order) with some nice green chili, real refried beans and scratch rice. My wife lauded over her tamale plate with red sauce. If you are visiting the Rio Grande Gorge Visitors Center, which is right across the street, or just passing through, this is a great place to stop, fill-up on chow and relax.
