Crema's Take

Tucked into Richmond's charming Museum District, Paix Coffee has evolved from a pop-up cart into a polished gem that takes espresso seriously, expertly crafting everything from traditional shots to creative seasonal drinks like their honey cardamom latte. The intimate space feels more artsy and refined than typical neighborhood cafes, with vintage church signs and paintings creating a cozy, contemplative atmosphere that invites you to linger over a pour over or slow-sipped specialty drink. Whether you're a local who's made it your reliable go-to or a visitor discovering one of the country's best specialty coffee shops, Paix delivers the kind of quality and care that makes every cup feel intentional.

One of my favorite spots in Richmond! Located in a fantastic corner of the Museum District, this neighborhood staple has become my go to for coffee beans and a reliable cup of coffee! Can’t go wrong with a Paix Cappuccino!

I am from out of town, but spend a few weeks a year in RVA. This is by far the best coffee that I've found in the area, and one of my favorite coffee shops in the country. They expertly pull every shot with attention to detail and care. The drip is also delicious and always fresh. They don't have lots of syrups and flavors (only vanilla) but that is because the coffee speaks for itself and isn't need of added flavoring. If you love coffee, Paix is a place you must check out when in RVA.

Very solid coffee. Cool cozy vibe, I feel like this shop has a different feel compared to other coffee shops in the area—maybe a more polished/artsy lamplighter? I don’t think the connected shop really adds anything to the experience but I also don’t think it detracts. Pretty small space though so I probably wouldn’t come with a big group!

If you take coffee seriously - don’t miss this absolute gem. This review is far overdue - I first stumbled across Paix a few years back when they were a pop up cart. They surprised me with the quality of coffee, service, and knowledge from day one, and they’ve grown exponentially since! As a self proclaimed coffee nerd, I’d stack their coffee against some of the top coffee shops in the country (I travel a lot so this isn’t just blowing hot air). The caliber and selection of coffee they sling is shocking. On top of this, their cafe space is beautiful and owns a unique vibe - the crowning jewel being their custom lever espresso machine. Each time I visit, Dan or Seth excitedly tell me about what’s on rotation and what new roast they’re going to have dropping. This is a singular coffee experience that is enjoyable to the coffee novice or the connoisseur.

What a cool spot! The inside is small, but cozy. Decorated with old church signs and paintings, Paix Coffee displays their simple menu by the register. I enjoyed their seasonal latte- honey cardamom in January 2025. Next door and attached to Paix Coffee is a fun clothing store with a couch and bar seating. Outside if a mural by NILS, one of RVA's best muralists.
