Passyunk Avenue Philly Bagels
1742 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA
Crema's Take
“This cozy South Philly bagel spot excels at the fundamentals—their bagels arrive fresh and their schmear selection is genuinely impressive, with standouts like scallion bacon that keep people coming back. The vibe is casual and welcoming, perfect for grabbing a killer breakfast sandwich to go or lingering over coffee with friends, and recent ownership seems to have brought a notably friendly energy to the counter. It's the kind of neighborhood place that doesn't try too hard but gets the craft right, pairing quality bagels with reasonable prices and an unpretentious atmosphere.”

First the bagels are good!! I had a cheddar bagel egg cheese and turkey bacon, everything was fresh and delicious. The service needs serious improvement. Got there at 7:01am (they open at 7am) the door was locked. Person behind counter saw me and continued to work behind counter. 7:08am still not open, person behind counter looked over saw me standing there and continued working. It was 10 degrees that morning. Finally Opens at 7:10 unlocks door employee pushes it open I go to grab the handle n she lets it go. RUDE!!!!!!! Went in and ordered then waited over 20 minutes for my order, I was the only person in the store. Wont being going back. Food is great, if you don't mind horrible customer service.
Schmear Bagel Parlor is a solid spot to grab a fresh bagel and a coffee to go. The service was incredibly friendly, the bagel was fresh, and the veggie cream cheese was really tasty. The inside is pretty small, so it’s definitely more of a grab-and-go place, especially when it’s busy. I’d recommend it and would come back!
Exceptionally good breakfast sandwiches at a reasonable price considering the area. Bagels always taste fresh and their schmear selection is excellent. The scallion bacon is especially good. I've generally only dealt with the same two folks at the register but they're both super friendly and make you feel like a regular. The dining space is a litltle confined but if you were expecting a bagel shop on the Ave to have a ton of seating then you're actually looking for a sit down spot.
My first time here since the new ownership. Greeted by Shawn(spelling) who was so very pleasant. I ordered everything bagels and a pork roll egg and cheese to go. Everything was so very good.
Truly artisanal. A cozy artisan bagel shop in South Philadelphia. The shop: It's very cozy, giving you the feeling of a simple but well-maintained place. The layout of its space is very well thought out, and the stations are clearly visible, allowing you to see each process. Its strategic location is in a busy area with many residents, as it's a commercial area with many establishments nearby, allowing many people to access it. With its service system, it allows people to order and pick up their products very efficiently and quickly. Service: It's worth noting that the employees are very familiar with the shop's vision and understand that it's a multi-generational company that cares about keeping its tradition alive. They provide excellent service; you can feel they go the extra mile to ensure you get what you want. They are very friendly and always have a smile. Product: Understanding that it's primarily an artisan bagel shop, you know that all of their produce is fresh, made daily, and you can appreciate it in every bite, as well as the variety they offer. Freshly ground coffee, they have a good variety of flavors to suit everyone's taste. Prices: I consider the prices to be reasonable, considering the prices of other shops with similar services and products. Overall: Considering all of the above factors, I consider Passyunk Ave Bagels to be an excellent choice.
