Blue Bottle Coffee - Downtown Berkeley

Crema's Take
“This Berkeley institution has earned its reputation as an espresso-focused destination where even self-proclaimed purists find themselves pleasantly surprised by thoughtfully crafted drinks like their standout Juniper Latte and precision pour-overs that justify their price tag. The shop strikes a rare balance between serious coffee craftsmanship and approachable hospitality, with bright natural light and decent seating that makes it easy to linger over your cup without feeling rushed. Whether you're a black coffee minimalist or adventurous enough to try their creative seasonal offerings like the orange cream Nola, there's a genuine care in execution that sets this location apart from the average specialty café.”

As a self proclaimed espresso purist I was really impressed by the Juniper Latte. Good pour and nice presentation, good shot flavor. What else can one ask for? Decent places to sit too.
Guys, seriously, why is it impossible to find decent coffee in the US? I'm from Switzerland, and during my week in Berkeley, I drank coffee everywhere. Seriously. In every coffee shop I could find. And only here does the coffee resemble the drink they call coffee in Italy or Portugal. Thank God I found it!
This was my first time here and I tried two different iced coffee's. I ordered the Nola iced coffee and the orange cream Nola. Both of these drinks were delicious and the customer service was quick and friendly with no wait. I would return but it would be a different time since parking is extremely difficult to find.
I take my coffee black. As I haven’t really tried anything else, I cannot comment on the rest of their offer, but their 6 dollar pour over meets my (high) standard for coffee. In terms of atmosphere, the place is minimalist, modern, spacious. It’s not a cozy place, but I like looking out the window on the street drinking coffee - I find it calming. I get coffee here regularly while staying in Berkeley.
Caffeine Fix and Natural Light! We were in Berkeley for a business meeting, and my colleague suggested we stop by this Blue Bottle Coffee location for a caffeine fix. The place is nicely set up. It has large glass windows on two sides, letting in plenty of natural light, so you can enjoy your caffeine drink while watching the foot traffic outside. We opted for takeaway drinks, but the wait was a bit longer than usual due to a rush and a shift change. No worries, though! We had a chance to chat while we waited. My Winter Blend coffee with cream hit the spot! The caffeine boost did its magic, and we returned to the meeting feeling alert and ready to tackle the rest.
