Coffee Rush

1949 W Ray Rd UNIT 40, Chandler, AZ

Crema's Take

Coffee Rush captures that sweet spot between laid-back neighborhood hangout and craft-focused espresso bar, where the baristas seem genuinely invested in making something special for each customer rather than just pushing drinks out the window. The lakeside setting in Chandler gives the place a naturally calming vibe perfect for lingering over a creative signature drink or cold brew, though fair warning—this is a place that rewards curiosity and conversation with the people behind the counter more than it rewards those just grabbing and going.

I very rarely leave reviews, but my boyfriend and I visited for the first time while waiting for his appointment next door and I felt I had to make others aware. Whilst waiting in line a lady came in with a small pitbull mix on a leash that was very pleasant. The dog wasn’t crazy at all, on a leash, and sat the entire time. The bald older man with a long beard came from behind the counter and told her no pets were allowed. She apologized and clearly just wanted to order something quickly to go sit outside with her dog on the water. He didn’t even let her speak and walked over to the door ushering her outside. I understand having no pet policies, but putting a coffee shop on a lake, with a large patio next to a huge grass area where people gather with their pets, then not allowing them to quickly come inside and order something is just bizarre. There were plenty of people outside with their dogs on the patio, I am not sure if they just tied their dogs to the table and then came inside, but they all had coffees. He also could have approached her very differently, you could tell it was clearly her first time visiting and she was extremely understanding. I am trying my best to support local Chandler Coffee shops instead of going to Starbucks but aggressive, rude employees like this just ruin it for me. You can tell how the owners don’t care just by reading their responses to negative reviews. I still gave them 2 stars because my drink was good, but the treatment of other customers just won’t sit right with me. I definitely will not return.

I feel so bad. This looks like it’s a locally owned shop and I really wanted to support them. But by golly. I walked in and was trying to look at their menu. And one guy goes: “You have to buy a drink if you want to stay in here.” Like I just got here… I’m trying to look at the menu. I apologized and said oh I was trying to look at your teas. They pointed them out and I picked one and he just gave me the tea bag and a cup of hot water. I was like oh? I put the tea in myself… (like why didn’t I just walk to fry’s and buy a box of tea, I’m dumb). Haha maybe it’s because I’m a barista and I personally don’t kick people out unless they’ve been there for a while and haven’t made a purchase. Let alone if they are at the register trying to make a purchase. Even when I notice someone is using my cafe space for free I approach them with “hey, are you waiting on someone? Is there anything I can get started for you?” If they say they’re not planning on buying anything I let them know the policy and see if there’s anything on the menu that might interest them. We went at night. Haha if I were you I suggest looking at the menu before you go and sitting outside so you don’t upset them. *we went at 8pm. There was no one else in line. They close at 11. There was no reason for them to be hostile.

Honestly, one of the worst coffees I’ve ever had. I only came here because it was recommended. Yes, the view across the lake is nice and calming, but that’s the only good thing about this place. The quality and taste of the coffee were genuinely bad. Flat, poorly balanced, and unpleasant to drink. I hate saying this, but even a basic gas station coffee would taste gourmet compared to what I was served here. There’s no consistency at all. Measurements are eyeballed instead of properly measured, which completely kills any chance of quality or repeatability. Nice location, but the coffee itself is a major letdown. I wouldn’t come back for the drinks.

This is for the artists that make coffee from their heart. My order is always "can you make me something espresso that's hot, and sweet but not too sweet" -Every person behind the machine makes something absolutely delicious and on point. Service is so fast and always kind. A constant good energy can be felt when you step inside -that's only possible when a place is ran by people contributing to happiness with their own presence, so a huge thank you to all the beautiful people that show up with the right energy and spread it! The patio is perfect right off a little lake and always adds to ambiance of "chill". Favorite coffee shop. Thank you all!

This place has a great location with a beautiful lake view right in front. The service was good, and the coffee was decent. However, I wouldn’t recommend the pastry. I tried one of the Arab pastries, and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a few days—not very fresh. Another issue is the smell inside, it doesn't smell like coffee but more like mold, they should do something about it. I'm still giving them 4 stars because I could come back for the view and the coffee, but that's about it.
