Hands down the most authentic and delicious Italian subs I’ve had in a long time. The bread is perfect, the ingredients are fresh, and every sandwich is packed with flavor. You can tell a lot of care goes into what they make. But honestly, what makes this place even better is the owner. He is incredibly kind, welcoming, and truly passionate about his shop. If you’re looking for a real, no-shortcuts Italian sub and great service to match, this place is an absolute must. I’ll definitely be back!!

Captains log star date 2/13/26 Week 2 of trying every sandwich on menu until we find something we dont like. Henry Hill sandwich on Brooklyn Rye and the Italian cutlet on seeded roll were both superb. No notes. Peter's conflict resolution with unruly customers? Fantastic. We really enjoyed the sandwiches, and Peter continues to impress with his customer service. Being greeted like we had been there a hundred times felt welcoming.

If you haven’t been yet, Polpetti is a must! My family and I are from NY and we LOVE it! Chicken cutlet sandwiches are hard to come by and we feel like we are back in NY every time we eat them at Polpetti. The FDNY is our absolute favorite! We have ordered sandwiches, bought fresh pasta, ordered catering and cookies, and had a large event at my office catered. Everything is amazing. Pete, Georgia and their team are the sweetest and you always feel welcome.

You’re not going for the atmosphere, you’re going for the food and the people. Wish we had taken a photo of the food but we literally were too excited to eat! Ordered a Balboa on a sesame seeded roll and a Grinder which was a bunch of great Italian cold cut staples a fresh piece of Foccacia. The owner? (Peter??) was sooo nice and knowledgeable. He came out and talked to us while stocking their fridges and gave us a sample of their Pastrami. Love when staff is passionate about their work and the products they sell. By far two of the best sandwiches we’ve ever had ! It gives DiNick’s a run for their money as far as hot roast porks go!

Polpetti Italian Deli is hands down my favorite spot in Richmond. The sandwiches are unbelievable—exactly like the best Italian delis I grew up with back in New York. The chicken cutlet sandwiches are my favorite and never miss. Do yourself a favor and add the long hot peppers to just about any sandwich. Peter and Georgia, the owners, are fantastic people, which makes the place even better. This is a true local, family-run business that’s absolutely worth supporting. The food is phenomenal and genuinely New York–style Italian deli quality. Don’t skip the desserts either—the rainbow cookies and cannolis are outstanding. And if you’re catering, the kids’ mac and cheese is a guaranteed crowd favorite for both kids and adults. If you’re looking for a real New York–style Italian deli in Richmond, Polpetti is the place.
