Crema's Take

Nestled in Covington, Roebling Books & Coffee is a deceptively expansive bookstore-café hybrid where espresso-focused drinks shine and the space unfolds across multiple rooms that reward exploration. The specialty coffees here earn genuine enthusiasm from regulars, though the experience can be hit-or-miss depending on timing and staffing—come during quieter hours to fully appreciate the thoughtful drink craftsmanship and cozy atmosphere that make it worth the visit.

The atmosphere felt unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. The staff came across as dismissive and openly hostile, which made it uncomfortable to browse or ask questions. Inclusive spaces are important, and I fully support them. But inclusivity should go both ways. No one should feel judged or unwelcome while simply trying to support a local business and buy books. Unfortunately, that was my experience here. I hope they reconsider how they engage with customers, because the concept and mission of the shop are great — but customer service matters.

This was my third time getting coffee here as I am new to the area. While my first two times were good, I stopped in this afternoon for two coffees. As I walked in, the individual behind the counter did not acknowledge me, so I patiently waited as they were making a coffee. After they were done, they asked in a rude tone if they could help me. I said I just wanted to order two coffees and the response was “I didn’t realize I had to call on you.” Was a very hostile interaction and not even sure what I did to warrant it. I said thank you as they handed me the coffees and got no response. I was in a rather good mood until this interaction and cannot say I will be giving any more money to this establishment.

It looks small when you first walk in. But use your eyes - there are multiple rooms that just keep going. It’s not just a coffee shop with a small lobby. It’s a giant bookstore with a coffee shop. My wife is the reader and the coffee drinker and she thoroughly enjoyed herself!!

Giving 5 stars for our experience as it was good and the space is lovely. We did, however, just barely beat the rush and the people behind us had to wait a pretty long time for coffee as the entry area packed up quick and was difficult to move through. There’s three or four tables of space to hang out and read or work, but it’s first come first serve on those spaces and they filled up quick. The book selection is good and it’s a niche shop - fun to walk through and check out! The coffee was good and our service was pretty quick, but the two people staffed were hustling to try and make sure the 10-12 people behind us didn’t walk out the door because it got so busy!

Roebling Books and Coffee is an absolutely awesome place to visit. The unique coffees they offer are truly exceptional, each brew providing a distinct and delightful experience for any coffee lover. Also, the names are top notch and fun little call outs. The shop's quaint and cozy setting makes it the perfect spot to relax, whether you're catching up with friends, enjoying a good book, or simply soaking in the charming atmosphere. Located in an excellent area, it's an ideal place to take in the local scenery while savoring your drink. I can't recommend Roebling Books and Coffee highly enough—it's a must-visit for anyone in the area!
