Jaffa Coffee Roasters
1701 University Ave, Berkeley, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked on University Ave, this Berkeley roastery combines expertly crafted espresso with genuinely creative seasonal drinks that the baristas will happily adjust to your preference. The space itself is a draw—bright, open, and thoughtfully designed with board games and a retail shelf, making it equally perfect for a solo coffee moment or lingering with friends. What really sets them apart is the consistency and care in every cup, paired with owners who clearly love what they do and know their coffee inside and out.”

Exceptional seasonal drinks. Some of the signature drinks can lean a bit sweet for my taste, so I usually ask for light sweet and that works perfectly. The baristas clearly know their coffee and are very knowledgeable. You can tell they are well trained and passionate about what they do. Jaffa Coffee Roasters roasts their own beans and it really shows in the flavor. The coffee has unique notes that are hard to find anywhere else. The mural inside is beautiful and the overall atmosphere has great energy. Everyone is kind, welcoming, and makes the experience even better. Seating is a bit tight but they make great use of the space they have.
Owners super nice, friendly. The coffee presentation is top notch. We got the banana coffee(?) I forgot the name and an orange latte. Super good. Delicious and sweet. The place is so cute as well. Good for study or js stay to chill
Jaffe Coffee Roasters is a cutesy cafe on University Ave, a bit of a ways from campus, but so SO worth it!! The interior was so vibey, the drinks were all very cute with excellent presentation, and the staff apparently really knows what’s up with coffee considering the incredibly detailed rants I overheard about beans that I legit could not tell you anything about. They even gave me a spoon to scoop up the whipped cream at the end HAHA. off their menu, I had the Strawberry Sage Creek, and this was so sweet and comfy and honestly great for someone who isn’t a huge coffee person. I will absolutely be back just to try their pastries bc i’m hearing some good things
After several visits I can confidently say this is one of the best cafés is Berkeley. The quality of their coffee is simply amazing, and something that makes them truly special is their consistency and commitment to always serve carefully crafted coffee drinks. Amazing.
Came by yesterday for our Sunday Morning coffee. We were stunned by how bright and open the space is! When you enter, there are tables and board games to the left and a retail shelf to the right. When you get to the counter, take a moment to admire the beautiful Jaffa orange mural on the wall by the baristas/register. Beautifully done & really sets a good tone for your experience. Jaffa Coffee Roasters offers their standard cafe menu, seasonal tea/mocktails, signature mocktails, refreshers, and seasonal hojicha. They also have a selection of baked goods and some handmade bonbons. Since it was our first visit (and definitely not our last) we decided to try their seasonal mocktails— Just in Thyme ($8) & Gen Z Beel ($8). We got oat milk in each of them instead of the standard which added $1 extra to each and there is a $0.25 Berkeley Cup Charge. We also ordered a Jaffa Orange BonBon ($5.50) and a small Jaffa Cake ($5). Our order totaled at $29. While we waited for our order, we entertained ourselves with some of their coffee infographics by the creamer and to go lids. The bathroom was also well maintained and was decorated to the general theme which was super cute! We also snacked on the Jaffa Orange Bon Bon and Jaffa Cake. I found the Bon Bon to be a tad bit too gritty for my preference but the flavor was great. A subtle orange flavor with a nice rich chocolate. The Jaffa Cake was unique- a spongey cake topped with chocolate. It went great with the coffee because it wasn’t too sweet. The drinks were so fun & had a beautiful presentation. Each drink definitely takes some time to prepare so having the pastries to snack on while we waited was ideal. The Gen Z Beel was essentially a spiced coffee. It was perfectly bitter and the coffee flavor shined through. The Just in Thyme was my favorite. I am definitely biased because I prefer a fruit infused coffee. I could honestly even enjoy this drink without milk since there’s already whipped cream on top. I especially enjoyed the dehydrated pear garnish. The owner was our cashier, I forgot to ask for his name but he was happy to answer all of our questions and even went through the entire menu with us since it was our first visit. The baristas looked super busy but still made time to briefly chat with us when we were grabbing our drinks from the pickup area. They also made sure that we were aware of where to get lids for our to go cups.
