Crema's Take

Tucked away in the back of Union Market, this spot has become a serious destination for matcha lovers and vegan tea drinkers who crave creative options like black sesame and hojicha alongside classic matcha lattes, all expertly prepared with oat milk and balanced perfectly. The efficient ordering system and hidden-gem location create an intimate escape from the market's bustle, though consistency issues with inventory across locations mean you'll want to call ahead. Whether you're grabbing a quick specialty drink or settling in for a meeting, the thoughtfully crafted drinks and vegan-friendly approach have earned genuine loyalty from repeat visitors.

I am indignantly posting that they don’t have any hot tea options in the middle of winter! Even though it’s on the menu! The DuPont location also doesn’t always have boba. So I’d say Spot of Tea is fun but go with an open mind and flexibility about what you want.

Must visit for vegans - there are a ton of options! Our favorites were the regular hojicha, black sesame and taro drinks which you can get with oat milk. They have an efficient ordering system and the drinks are customizable with things like sweetness level and boba. Highly recommend!

Ordered a matcha latte with oat milk—delicious, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Union Market was crowded, and though Spot of Tea is hidden in the back, it’s absolutely worth finding and visiting here.

We've only been in DC for 2 days, and somehow, we've made it back here twice. I've been on the hunt for great matcha when I travel, and this has definitely made the top of my list. We ordered the Mango Yuzu and Mango Matcha drinks the first day. Then, on the second day, we ordered the Mango Matcha and Lychee Matcha again. If you like your matcha sweet, I recommend ordering at least extra sweet and adding dairy milk to make the drink creamy. You can definitely taste the quality of matcha they use, but all of their drinks have been extremely tasty!

I recently tried the milk coffee and tea at Spot the Tea and found the flavors lacking. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a significant difference in taste compared to other places. At around $7 for a medium coffee, the price felt steep for what I received. While the ambiance is nice, I expected more from both the flavor and value. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for the experience rather than the taste.
