Spot of Tea - Union Market
1309 5th St NE, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“Tucked away in the back of Union Market, this spot has become a serious destination for matcha lovers and vegan tea drinkers who crave creative options like black sesame and hojicha alongside classic matcha lattes, all expertly prepared with oat milk and balanced perfectly. The efficient ordering system and hidden-gem location create an intimate escape from the market's bustle, though consistency issues with inventory across locations mean you'll want to call ahead. Whether you're grabbing a quick specialty drink or settling in for a meeting, the thoughtfully crafted drinks and vegan-friendly approach have earned genuine loyalty from repeat visitors.”
What to expect
Strong matcha and tea selection, with creative signature drinks. A quick-grab spot, good for meetings. Open late.

Must visit for vegans - there are a ton of options! Our favorites were the regular hojicha, black sesame and taro drinks which you can get with oat milk. They have an efficient ordering system and the drinks are customizable with things like sweetness level and boba. Highly…
Ordered a matcha latte with oat milk—delicious, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Union Market was crowded, and though Spot of Tea is hidden in the back, it’s absolutely worth finding and visiting here.
