Crema's Take

Tucked away in South Portland, this gourmet market delivers far more than coffee—it's a destination for artisanal cheeses, creative baked goods (the double-decker ring ding is legendary), and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere both inside and on the patio. While some visitors rave about the traditional hot beverages and full breakfast menu perfect for lingering with friends, others note the coffee itself isn't the main draw, so come for the carefully curated pastries, thoughtful vegan and gluten-free options, and that cozy local market charm. It's the kind of place where you'll discover something new to love beyond just your cup—whether that's a 2-year aged cheddar or a homemade treat you didn't know you needed.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu.

The double decker ring ding is amazing, but be warned it is easily enough for two (or three) to enjoy! The cheeses were also fantastic, we got the 2 year aged cheddar and the maple cheddar. Definitely worth the trip over to C Salt if you are in the Portland area.

Great atmosphere, inside and on the patio. Baked goods are great, but pricey. However, the deal-breaker for our book club was that NO ONE liked ANY of the coffee choices. How about one good medium-roast, unflavored, locally- roasted coffee? We’d come back!
