C Salt Gourmet Market
349 Ocean House Rd, South Portland, ME
Crema's Take
“Tucked away in South Portland, this gourmet market delivers far more than coffee—it's a destination for artisanal cheeses, creative baked goods (the double-decker ring ding is legendary), and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere both inside and on the patio. While some visitors rave about the traditional hot beverages and full breakfast menu perfect for lingering with friends, others note the coffee itself isn't the main draw, so come for the carefully curated pastries, thoughtful vegan and gluten-free options, and that cozy local market charm. It's the kind of place where you'll discover something new to love beyond just your cup—whether that's a 2-year aged cheddar or a homemade treat you didn't know you needed.”

I can C (the letter but also meaning see (like look) and sea (like the ocean which the market is named after)) why this place is so well rated. A nice little market with some good hot beverages to warm you up in the January snow, with some fresh sandwiches that will satisfy any taste. The warm and fuzzy made us feel all warm and fuzzy while the vanilla latte sure was a latte fun! While wayyy up north, the southern chicken sandwich gave me a taste of the sun beaming down on a southern afternoon. Most will find comfort in the friendly faces, fine cheeses, flavorful drinks, and cozy place to stay no matter the weather.
I searched Google for "coffee ☕ Cape Elizabeth Maine" and they came up first. The reviews were positive so I stopped by to visit. I had the English Muffin Egg 🥚 Sandwich 🥪 with cheddar cheese 🧀, turkey 🦃, tomato 🍅 and red onion 🧅. It was so stuffed I had to use a fork 🍴 to eat it! The Raspberry Scone texture and taste were good. It did not turn to mush in my mouth and the outer layer had crunch but was not hard. The Morning 🌅 Blend coffee ☕ was good 👍. I skipped lunch because I was so full! They could use single 🪑 seating inside. I felt bad that I was sitting at a table for four people. The market has local products, liquor, clothing and prepared food to go. Christmas 🎄 themed items were also on sale. Service was very good. They brought my order out to me and they trusted me to get the correct size coffee ☕ I ordered. I am going to recommend this market!
The double decker ring ding is amazing, but be warned it is easily enough for two (or three) to enjoy! The cheeses were also fantastic, we got the 2 year aged cheddar and the maple cheddar. Definitely worth the trip over to C Salt if you are in the Portland area.
Great atmosphere, inside and on the patio. Baked goods are great, but pricey. However, the deal-breaker for our book club was that NO ONE liked ANY of the coffee choices. How about one good medium-roast, unflavored, locally- roasted coffee? We’d come back!
Such a great local find on our lighthouse adventures! It's a super cute market with gluten free and vegan treat options. I got a vegan and gluten free raspberry thumbprint and some coffee grounds. A tad pricey but I do enjoy supporting local shops. Great coffee and hot chocolate, a must visit if you are also making the trek around outer Portland!
