Crema's Take

While El Tesoro's heart is Mexican street food rather than coffee, this sprawling Atlanta gem deserves a visit if you're seeking an authentic, unhurried coffee experience in a genuinely welcoming space. The picnic-style outdoor seating with cozy fire pits creates that rare atmosphere where you can linger over a café de olla or traditional Mexican hot chocolate without feeling rushed, making it perfect for long conversations with friends or family. The kitchen's commitment to fresh, flavorful food means your coffee won't be the star—but the whole convivial experience, complete with the low-key charm of a street-style hangout, absolutely will be.

One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. High quality Mexican street food with outdoor seating. Expect a line but it's worth it.

I came here with my family of 5 for a friend’s 40th birthday. The food was awesome, and the seating area is huge and super family friendly. We loved the taco of the day, and my kids fought over the churros and the queso. This place would be perfect if the wait wasn’t so insane to order food. We probably stood in line at least 20 minutes, and people were backed up into the tiny parking lot so much that people that parked in their parking lot were having trouble getting in and out of the lot because people were in the way. If we weren’t meeting other people that were already there, we definitely wouldn’t have stayed- especially since my kids were restless. There was plenty of seating to choose from, but the line to order food seemed to move in slow motion. It was almost shocking how much seating was available after such a long line to order. The food came out reasonably quick once we ordered and sat down, but the ordering process definitely needs to be sped up some kind of way. There’s a drinks only window on the back side of where they take orders- which allowed me to grab drinks for me and my husband and make the wait in line a little less painful, but maybe that window needs to take food orders too when the wait gets backed up. I was also told that a pro tip is to just get there right when they open, but it would be nice if that wasn’t the only way to not get stuck in a crazy line.

A little slice of Mexico in ATL! I’ve been craving an authentic quesadilla for months and I finally found it in El Tesoro! The ambiance is chill, personable and welcoming. The menu has an array of choices from chips and guac to quesadillas. All very authentic, tasty and simple. Staff is helpful, hospitable and kind. I ordered a mango-habanero margarita and a barbacoa quesadilla. Absolutely DEVOURED it! The weather was perfect the music was bumping, and I will definitely be suggesting this restaurant to my friends and family

I am a skeptical person always, it's a problem, and so usually I don't leave reviews to places I have been because my rule is if I don't have anything nice to say, just don't say anything at all. This place blew my socks off. There is a reason it's trendy and all the hipsters go here. Because it's amazing. The atmosphere is so fun and in the spring and summer?! Fagedda bout it! Game over. I'm convinced they have a magician making their food. I am picky and I have not one single critique. I'm also not sure I took a picture of any of the actual food but will amend that next time I go.

Tesoro has such a cool, picnic-style vibe — complete with a cozy fire pits that makes the whole place feel like a fun dhaba/street-style hangout! The food was genuinely good, fresh, and full of flavor. Super family-friendly too, so the kids had a great time while we relaxed. A great spot to unwind, enjoy tasty Mexican dishes, and soak in the outdoor ambiance.
